Stepping Stone Support Center works as a 'stepping stone' to provide more independence for adults with developmental disabilities. Stepping Stone will facilitate the valuable contribution that adults with developmental disabilities can bring to our community. We want to honor their unique qualities by providing different programs that will meet the full span of needs represented in this community. We provide 4 main types of services; program services through prevocational, life skills, and social opportunities, in-home supports with cooking, cleaning, laundry, mentoring, and respite, employment services, and residential supports. Check out the Stepping Stone CO-OP page where our CO-OP members make products such as lip balms, lotions, candles, dog biscuits, jams, culinary treats, and much more! They also run a coffee shop to the community during the week! info@steppingstonesupportcenter.com

Stepping Stone Support Center's onsite center CLOSED TODAY, Wednesday December 17, 2025!

Due to the anticipated high winds and potential power shut-offs from Xcel today, Stepping Stone will be closed today, Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Jeffco Schools have also decided to close, and after careful consideration, we will be doing the same.

Due to the large geographic area anticipated to be impacted by power outages across Jeffco and the unknown restoration times, we determined that our facility will likely experience significant disruptions that could pose a safety risk to participants and staff.

Ultimately, our responsibility is to prioritize safety—which includes the ability to safely transport participants to and from Stepping Stone, and ensuring they have safe and warm buildings for programming. We have worked to make the best decisions we can based on the information provided by Xcel.

Weather conditions are expected to improve later this evening. Please know we are committed to getting our participants back to program to finish out the week. Our current plan is to operate a normal program day on Thursday, December 18.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Online Classes:

Online classes will also be canceled today due to the potential for widespread power outages. To avoid confusion if an instructor loses power and is unable to notify participants in a timely manner, we will cancel all online classes for today as well.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

In-Home Services & Job Coaching:

For family caregivers and live-in providers, please continue to provide your typical In-Home services.

For non-live-in staff (Life Skill Coaches and Job Coaches), please feel free to connect with your participants and families and make the decision that is safest and most comfortable for you based on today’s conditions. Please ensure you communicate with your families if you are not able to make it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

We apologize for the short notice! Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. Safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your continued commitment to our participants and each other.

Stay safe and warm!

John Cronin Named to Forbes 30 Under 30!
I’m thrilled to share something extraordinary:
My son and business partner, John Cronin, has been named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Class of 2026 in Social Impact.

He is officially the first person with Down syndrome ever to receive this honor.

This isn’t just a proud Dad moment, it’s a milestone for disability leadership, inclusive entrepreneurship, and the belief that ability is something we should expand, not limit.

Here are just some of the reasons John earned this recognition:

-Co-founded John’s Crazy Socks, a social enterprise with a mission to spread happiness.
-Created dozens of jobs, most held by people with differing abilities.
-Donated over $800,000 to the Special Olympics New York , the National Down Syndrome Society, and other partners.
-Co-founded Abilities Rising , a disability-owned family of ventures focused on publishing, coaching, workplace inclusion, and mission-driven e-commerce.
-Launched Abilities Rising Publishing, giving voice to authors with differing abilities and sharing stories that change expectations.

John sees this award as fuel, energizing him and enabling him to reach more people to champion inclusive hiring, disability-owned businesses, and entrepreneurship as a path for families like ours.

I’m proud of the work we did at John’s Crazy Socks and even more excited about what we’re building now with Abilities Rising.

We’ll keep traveling the country delivering keynotes, workshops, and coaching that show one simple truth: When you give people a chance, they rise.

Please join me in congratulating John. This honor belongs to him, but the impact belongs to everyone who believes in what people with differing abilities can achieve.

🌟 Our Job Coach and Participant Highlight of the Month! 🌟
This month, we’re excited to spotlight Renee and Peter for all the incredible work they do!
Peter works hard as a cashier at Target, always showing great focus, kindness, and dedication on the job. He enjoys counting change, keeping his register spotless, and connecting with customers — even earning compliments that reached upper management! He loves working with Renee because she’s happy, kind, and always helps him keep moving forward.
Renee has been with Stepping Stone since January and was drawn to our mission of helping participants gain independence and make a difference in their communities. She’s constantly inspired by how our participants work hard, spread kindness, and change perceptions about the IDD community.
We’re so proud of both Renee and Peter for their teamwork, growth, and the positivity they bring to every workplace they’re part of!
