And that’s honestly just scratching the surface!
Low progesterone is a very common hormonal issue we see in the clinic and you’d be *appalled* at how often it is either
A. Never even found and diagnosed (let alone properly addressed)
Or
B. Treated - with progesterone or wild yam cream or another option, which may work well (and be the right course of action for that specific woman) - and the underlying issue that caused the low progesterone is never investigated, let alone addressed and resolved.
If you’re suffering with things like anxiety, mood swings (especially in the second half of your cycle), irregular periods, spotting, low libido, difficulty sleeping, trouble maintaining a pregnancy - please get you progesterone checked… but even more importantly, please don’t stop there!!
Make sure you get the personalized work up you deserve to address the underlying issue (which is almost never hormones). A good functional medicine doctor knows hormones are like the canaries in the coal mine - when they stop singing, we have to go to work to find out WHY 🫶🏽

I am FOR a different status quo for women’s healthcare.
I am FOR you being *listened to* about your lived experience in your own body.

I am FOR you getting to think critically about your own healthcare decisions
…with the help & guidance of a professional on *how* to evaluate the situation or diagnosis, instead of having someone else tell you WHAT to think without honoring your intelligence and intuition.

I am FOR finding the root causes of people’s conditions, concerns and symptoms before jumping into treatment.
And HECK YES I am FOR people living vibrantly into their 60’s, 70’s and far beyond without a need for drugs or pharmaceuticals - what a beautiful world that would be!

I am not against live saving interventions, properly prescribed meds, or using drugs when they’re needed.
But do you honestly look around and think “yeah, seems like our “healthcare” (aka sickcare) system is really serving me and my loved ones well?”
I did not.
And it deeply disturbed me.
So yes, I am FOR disrupting the status quo and building something better 💗 if that resonates, stick around - the future of this world needs more movers & shakers & healers like us!

Stop cheersing with alcohol 🫣 seriously.
And start cheersing with oysters!

Comment 2026Pregnancy for our top preconception *must-know* tips!

⬆️ Unpopular fertility opinion, I know. So let’s just make it super unpopular and put it all on the table - yes, this means for both mom AND dad.

Cutting out alocohol is probably the most poorly received preconception advice I give (don’t shoot the messenger).
Alcohol wreaks havoc on hormones in so many ways. Disrupts sleep, messes with blood sugar, destroys metabolism, and doesn’t actually help you unwind the way most people think.

Now entering the conversation… mocktails and sober curious zero proof cocktails. Much better option if you’re planning to get pregnant this year. Buuuuut, they usually still spike blood glucose by being very high in sugar (and often artificial dyes and flavors, too) and unstable blood sugar is one of the top issues we see with hormone imbalances & fertility challenges (alongside toxic burden).

So if you’re really serious about becoming parents this year, vote with your fork! Oysters are fertility superfoods, they are amazingly nutrient dense, and are honestly delicious (you can order the cooked instead of raw if you can’t get over the texture). Whether it’s opting for oysters, or just choosing to ditch the booze, lifestyle changes will give you way more ROI on your path to parenthood than even the best supplement stack will when it’s being stacked on top of toxic lifestyle habits.

Peptides, BHRT, supplement stacks… they can be *such* a game changer. Especially in women’s health & hormones!!
But they are also SO bioindividual!!
What works for one woman, may make you feel junk. Or vice versa.
You deserve a proper, functional medicine workup, and to get the foundations dialed in before you spend a ton of money on peptides, BHRT, or fat supplement stacks. Because I promise you the foundations are the key to make everything else fall into place and actually work for you!!

The good news? Probably one of the easiest ways to decrease your toxic load (or exposome) to heal your hormones is to ditch scented products.

Fragrance is very toxic to all members of your family.

Scented dog p**p bags, garbage bags, car air fresheners… they’re harming our hormones.

They’re endocrine disruptors.

We don’t need them. It’s okay that my garbage or my dog’s p**p doesn’t smell like flowers.

One random tip I picked up from my mom: spritz the top of your trash with some vinegar and essential oils if you have something smelly in there. She was an OG hippy with her reusable straws and bags way back in the 90’s - but darn she was right!!

This is why a study of YOU (aka a study of “n=1”) is so crucial in YOUR healing journey (makes sense when we say it like that lol)!

Some influencer says: “eat your fiber first, then fat and protein, save your (simple/quick) carbs for last” - and while this isn’t inherently *bad* advice… the people who need it the most (aka those of us with poor insulin sensitivity or full on insulin resistance) are going to get the least profound results from this advice!

This is why we love using Theia .ai with continuous glucose monitors for our clients AND checking their fasting insulin on labs!! (Pro move is to marry it with Mira for our fertility clients) 💞 feel free to post a comment if you have any questions or check out their profiles for more info - these pieces of tech & data help us work smarter so healing doesn’t have to be so stressful (this is not a sponsored post - we just want everyone to have access to our tools, client or not)!

When we have the full picture, we can get you the results your want for your health the fastest. We don’t guess, we check 🫶🏽

PMID: 40467897
👆🏽 also - feel free to read the study for yourself, I (Dr. K) spend time reading research every single week and nothing makes me happier than nerding out with clients about research 🤓
