Today we recognize Swallowing Awareness Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about swallowing disorders, also known as dysphagia. Swallowing is something most of us do without thinking, but for many children and adults it can be difficult and require specialized support.

Speech-language pathologists play an important role in helping people swallow safely and comfortably. Through evaluation, therapy, and collaboration with families and medical teams, SLPs work to improve feeding and swallowing skills and support overall health and nutrition.

Swallowing Awareness Day is a great reminder of how important these skills are and how therapy can make a meaningful difference in everyday life.
