The best success after surgery is found in the details right after surgery. Not in the months or weeks after surgery, but in the hours and days directly post-op. PT can begin right away, it may just look like a quad set or a knee bend. The longer the delay into “getting to work” the harder it becomes when it comes time to jump, run, cut and return to sport.

heading into her surgery with a quiet knee and a strong knee. Rest after an injury and before surgery is not priority and can actually hurt you more than help you. Strong pre-op = strong post-op. Shout out to the best 3rd year in the upstate for killer programming!

Returning to run after ACL surgery should never be a guessing game. You and your PT should have a concise plan and objective goals to hit prior to running. If you don’t know your goals, it’s likely your PT does not either. Finding a PT that works specifically with ACLs could change everything.

Rehab can be tough at times, but keeping to tight goals early on and finding time to laugh has made working with a blast. ACL rehab can be lost within the first few weeks if goals are not clear and volume isn’t appropriately managed and progressed.

It’s normal to have ups & downs throughout rehab after major surgery, but has seen it all and she is coming out the other side! From falls to nerve tension to adjusting to rehab at home and back at school I’m so proud to see her gain some momentum while home. Our focus this break has been improving rib & t-spine rotation mobility after prolonged sling time and pain with running. Along with A LOT of peri scapular and mid back strength work and end range work. It should be priority to send athletes back better than they were before injury, and I am excited to see the gains this athlete has seen over her last months with me.
