Happy Love Day! đź’•

From my heart to yours, may our hearts be open, our love be generous, and our days be nourished with togetherness.

Knowing how your own body heals is not a magic trick, it’s a matter of listening and paying attention.

Active curious listening is the key.

Be present with your body’s experience.

Trust that your body only acts with purpose and precision.

The more we learn and understand about the body, the more clear we are in how to assist the body.

The mind is a guide for the body.

It can help stabilize a dysregulated nervous system. It can witness when a body is in a trauma response. It can understand when the body is anxious for no apparent present day cause.

The mind can reassure.
The mind can calm.
The mind can be a true partner in the body’s healing.

The healing happens in the body.
But the conversation about healing is both mind and body. It’s the most important relationship we have.

We are our own master at healing, when we know how to listen, adjust, and hold space for all the expressions of the body. The ones we like and the ones we find difficult.

We talk about all this and more in our SoulBody Somatic Group on Tuesday evenings 7-8:30pm EST.

Have you ever heard the phrase “don’t quit before the magic happens”?

This passage from my manuscript TRUTH tells a little about my own process with feeling frustrated with the ups and downs…

“I want to quit. I feel tired of pushing forward, tired of navigating uncertainty, tired of feeling the weight of things that don’t seem to resolve quickly. But the truth is, you cannot quit your life. It requires you to keep moving every day, or it just gets harder, not easier. Even when the movement is small, even when it feels like survival instead of progress, it is still what keeps me here.”

-Colleen Marie Cavanagh

(Excerpt from manuscript “TRUTH”)
The message in this reel from Napoleon Hill inspires me every time I listen. Remembering that life tests us often, not as punishment, but for growth, keeps me moving forward.

I need that reminder. As often as I can get it. Especially the days I’m beat down and tired and not sure if my dreams are within reach. All I have to do is listen to Napoleon Hill say the test is necessary for the growth, “the delay is to your advantage” and I am ready to show up for another day.

What keeps you moving forward? How do you show yourself daily that you can handle the tests that show up in your life?

Let me know in the comments.

So much love,
Colleen

“I know that to truly live, we must really truly feel. And feeling is not something that can be rushed or bypassed or selectively chosen. Feeling requires presence, and presence requires courage. There are times when I do not want to feel what is moving through me, but I also know that when I do not allow myself to feel, I am not fully here. I am somewhere else. And I do not want to live my life somewhere else.”

Have you had a true conversation with your body before? A back-and-forth conversation with answers?

This is what is taught in my SoulBody Somatic Group-How to talk to your body.

It is a powerful and invigorating experience!

Each SoulBody Group is its own unique conversation. From the moment we open group and introduce ourselves, we set our healing intention and our bodies come online. And from start to finish, we are in active conversation with our body.

Different group topics include:
🔹how to heal trauma in the body
🔹how to listen and tolerate big emotions in the body
🔹how to navigate emotional states in relationship to others
🔹how to listen and understand our body’s expressions
🔹and very importantly, what is the language of the body

Then we practice.

We participate in a somatic meditation. The goal is to listen to our body, feel the energies and the emotions, and be both observer and active listener.

At the close of group, we share our SoulBody experience. This is my favorite part of group because so many beautiful experiences happen during the meditation.

Also, I have learned that the group is just the beginning! The healing starts in the group and continues on afterwards.

When sadness takes hold like a heavy weight slowing down time and space,

We breathe.

We breathe into the space where our heart no longer feels complete.

We breathe into the life story that pulled the blinds down hiding the sun’s rays.

We breathe into our body’s hold on what we are struggling to let go of…

And we breathe into the love that had to be in order for our heart to grieve.

Keep breathing.

Your grief is your body’s devotion to how deeply you love.

I revisited an old manuscript of mine from 2021-2023. This manuscript is an exercise I tried for a couple years, an attempt at writing free of self-judgment, a practice in writing candidly what arrived in my thoughts without censorship and worry about what others may think.

By the time I’d stopped writing it, it was more than forty pages. It had themes in it. Themes of feeling, of tenderness, chords of life’s soft underbelly.

I tried to put into words my understandings of the work I do. My understandings of trauma, nature, connection, exchange, and love.

These themes of life’s ups and downs are so delicate and tender for us all.

I’m slowly figuring out how to translate life and energy into language. Truth into words. Truth as energy, as the language of the body.

It is my passion project.
This listening to the body’s expressions. This learning and understanding of the universal expressions of our humanity.

I learn everything from the inside out.
My understanding comes from the body, what the body has communicated to me. What it has taught me. I have become a translator of its subtle expressions. It’s nudges. It’s precision.

I am a Medical Intuitive.
A translator of the body.
An active listener.
An observer.
A passionate advocate for healing and presence and joy.

I am also truly lost in this sea of social media. On a flimsy raft. Floating along. Singing my tunes.

And I am so grateful to all of you who listen.

With so much love,
Colleen

Did you know your body is amazing!?🔥

It is a vast network of receptors and transmitters.
It is conscious and it is listening.
Not only to what you say to yourself,
but what is being said in the field around you.

Your mind and body are powerful partners;
Especially when they speak,
consciousness-to-consciousness:
The conscious mind with the conscious body.

Your mind fills many roles:
Director, leader, analyzer,
intention-setter, observer,
and listener.

My task for you:
Can you place your mind into the
ACTIVE listener role?
Can you listen carefully to the communications from the body,
the body’s sensations, the body’s emotions,
Its fluctuations and shifts… its temperature.

Start to notice how when you focus on this listening, the body gives you immediate feedback.

The call and answer is real.
The connection is constant.
We listen to strengthen the bond,
And honor this incredible partnership.

And when this bond becomes
active, strong, and loud,
we are witnessing healing amplification in real time.

This is what we practice in the virtual SoulBody Somatic Group on Tuesday evenings.

This is what I teach in my 1:1 SoulBody Sessions ✨

Do the emotions ever feel too much?
Too overwhelming?
Too strong? Too intense?
Unmanageable? 🥹

I get it. Life comes at us fast.
Some stories we’ve been through
can sneak up and hijack our nervous system when we are not prepared.

When we are in an active challenging life moment, we often go into survival mode.
We turn off a lot of the emotional processing of the moment.

This happens so we can actually get through the moment without falling apart.

We stay standing during the worst parts.

It’s once the storm has settled, and
the moment has slipped into recent history,
and our world moves on to other things,
that the emotions rise up to be processed.

That’s when the waves of grief, hurt,
trauma, sadness, confusion, and fear can take us over.

That’s when we need a way to interact with our body’s experience that brings safety and understanding.

That’s when somatic practices really shine!

They show up in our muscle memory.
They show up in how we listen to our body.

They show up because we give ourselves
permission to feel and to heal.

The shift from mind-analyzing to
body-processing is a profound shift.

It’s a shift worthy of our time and effort.

My SoulBody Method focuses on the strengthening of the bond between mind and body.✨

▻ It focuses on how to actively listen to the body’s experience in real time.
â–» It focuses on building emotional tolerance.
â–» And creating safety in the relationship between your own mind and your own body.

It is about conscious self-awareness.
Proactive self-awareness.
And it is about self-compassion.

This practice asks you to
listen to what your body is saying
and respond with love, care, and presence.

Join our Virtual Tuesday Night SoulBody Somatic Group to learn and practice this method in real time. You will be guided step by step in how to connect, listen, and reassure your body that it can process it’s life, and feel safe again.
