Thank you to everyone for your kind messages for my surgery recovery. The all woman surgery and anesthetic team at Bozeman Health were absolutely wonderful. My family and friends went above and beyond helping me recover quickly. It's really been a positive journey. I'm happy to be ready and able to see all the precious dogs and cats again. I've missed them.

Our first 2026 low cost dog and cat vaccination and microchip clinic will be Saturday, April 4 from 9am until 2pm at the Park County Fairgrounds. We're looking forward to seeing you all there! Dogs and cats who had their 3-year duration vaccinations in 2023 are especially welcome.

I'm recovering from a recent major abdominal surgery. I hope to be ready to see cats and small dogs who don't require lifting or wrestling in March. Welcome to our next Vaccination and Microchip clinic open to all dogs and cats. We'll be at the Park County Fairgrounds on Sunday, November 16 from 9am until 2pm. It's a low key, low stress event that many dogs seem to enjoy. Cats would probably prefer to be somewhere else, but we love to see the beautiful cats.

Porcupine quills can damage tissue and cause inflammation, abscesses and infection, but removing quills from a dog's mouth must be done correctly by a veterinary professional, says veterinary technician Jessie Vint. Porcupines are nocturnal and don't have good vision, and Vint says keeping dogs leashed when outdoors at night is the best way to protect them.

Porcupine quills have caused medical issues to dogs that bite them in the Valley.

Impaired sleep is common in people with dementia, and a study published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science suggests the same is true for dogs with canine cognitive dysfunction, which "demonstrates the importance of speaking to your vet if you notice any concerning changes in your dog, including unusual sleeping behaviors," said dog health expert Nick Sutton, who was not involved with the study. Elderly dogs in the study with high dementia scores took longer than others to fall asleep, slept for shorter periods of time and had shallower rapid eye movement sleep.
