As a veteran of the U.S. Navy after serving a total of eight years, he was trained as a U.S. Navy Corpsman with specialized training as an operating room technician and surgical first assistant. Afterwards, he worked at Cookeville Regional Medical Center as a certified operating room technician/surgical first assistant as he pursued his college education. As a Tennessee Technological University alumni, he continued to pursue a medical degree from the World Health Organization accredited medical school at University of Santiago, in Dominican Republic. Upon completion, he was certified by the Educational Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates by passing multiple medical examinations to prove his competency. His family practice residency program was completed with the University of Arkansas. This program allowed a diversified training in the field of family medicine with emphasis on family medicine, obstetrics, and surgical procedures preparing Dr. Nelson to practice in a rural community setting. In response to his patients' request for cosmetic surgeries, Dr. Nelson spent time with multiple cosmetic surgeons across the country in learning to perform certain cosmetic procedures. He currently holds privileges to practice at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and Livingston Regional Hospital. Dr. Nelson is well known as has the respect of multiple surgeons in the Upper Cumberland area due to his training and practice background. He is currently associated with the following associations:

Our procedure room is Joint Commission accredited as we strive to deliver the highest level of care in a safe, controlled environment for our patients. Dr. Nelson utilizes the services of a certified registered nurse anesthetist, who administers conscious sedation for the comfort to our patients during their procedures. A nurse is present with you before, during, and after your procedure. A surgical technologist is present during the procedure to assist as needed. Dr. Nelson is not a board-certified plastic surgeon, however, he invites you to read his patients' testimonials and look at their before and after pictures. Patients are encouraged to come in for a free consultation to talk with Dr. Nelson about their procedure in depth. He strives to make your experience of having an office-based surgical procedure a safe and pleasant one by continually researching and learning the newest evidence based information for the cosmetic and surgical procedures.
