Katie’s been personal training and teaching group classes since 2018 and currently teaches
Deka Training - Monday’s @ 5:30pm

What’s your training background?
“At 13 I started assistant coaching figure skating classes, became a professional USFSA coach & choreographer at 18, then went to SFA for my undergrad in Kinesiology. During college I discovered how fun lifting and group ex was, so I got my CPT and first group ex format, now I hold 5 group ex certs and a group personal training specialist certification.”
Do you have any special interests in fitness?
“Oh yes! I’ve always enjoyed helping people regain ability, mobility, and confidence in their bodies. Since I started coaching at the rink as a teen, I’ve always had a passion for athletics. I love hybrid fitness and love coaching folks for & making YouTube content about Deka, Hyrox, and Deadly Dozen races. They reignited my passion for athletics!”
Why did you start training?
“Training for figure skating we never touched a dumbbell, so I went to college totally clueless on how to workout without a massive sheet of ice. I got a trainer, put in the reps, learned how fun weight lifting was, and I was hooked! Now I’ve been lifting for 9 years & training for 7!”
What’s a fun fact about you?
“I’m a huge epic fantasy nerd! I’ve read all of Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere books. Harry Potter, LOTR, and the Witcher books & games are my jam!”
Anything else you want to share?
“At the sweat shop we’re a family. Everyone is so supportive and we love helping newbies get started! You’re stronger than you think you are & capable of doing hard things! See you at the gym!”
