The stage of dementia someone is in can be measured in different ways.

The most common stages used are the 3 stage model and the 7 stage model.

Someone in stage 3 of one model could be in the severe dementia stage while, using another model, someone in stage 3 could be in the mild cognitive impairment stage. Therefore it's important to know what staging model the person is using.
