Manoogian Manor

Manoogian Manor The Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged In 1949 the first "Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged" was opened in a small farmhouse in Detroit. and Mrs.
(1)

This was made possible through the efforts of thirteen dedicated Armenian women and the entire Armenian community. In 1964, a ten acre parcel of land was purchased in order to meet the demands of caring for the elderly. Manoogian Manor became a reality with the dreams, foresight and determination of many individuals, as well as the generous support of our benefactors, Mr. Alex Manoogian. In 1970 t

he doors opened and the facility was officially dedicated to the memory of Mr. Alex Manoogian's parents: The Takvor and Takouhi Manoogian Manor. Since these begining days, Manoogian Manor expanded to house 70 residents, ensuring our elderly a continuance of family life filled with peace comfort and security.

🍕☀️ A Perfect Day at Eastern Market! ☀️🍕

There’s just something special about getting out into the heart of the city—and this trip did not disappoint! Our residents enjoyed a wonderful lunch outing at Supino Pizzeria in Eastern Market, one of Detroit’s favorite spots.

From fresh, delicious pizza to crisp salads and great conversation around the table, it was the kind of meal that brings everyone together. You could see it in the smiles, hear it in the laughter, and feel it in the moment—simple joys that turn into lasting memories.

After lunch, we took in the sights of Eastern Market and the beautiful Detroit skyline. Sunshine, fresh air, and time spent together made it a truly special outing for everyone.

These are the moments we cherish—getting out, experiencing the community, and enjoying life one outing at a time. ❤️

🎨✨ 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰! ✨🎨

While we’ve proudly displayed resident artwork throughout the Manor over the years, this week we made it official—and what a beautiful event it was!

From paper to canvas, paints to crayons, our residents (and a few talented staff!) created incredible pieces that remind us of one simple truth: Art is beautiful, and it’s wonderfully therapeutic.

Monday’s show brought together staff, family, and friends for an unforgettable evening filled with creativity and connection. Guests enjoyed blueberry-pomegranate martinis, a delicious meat & cheese spread, live piano by Vaughn, music by DJ Bryce, and Marcie as our MC guiding the night.

A huge thank you to all the families who stopped by—whether for a preview or the main event, your support meant so much.

🌟 Special Artist Shoutouts:

Anne Z.
Josh D.
Bob (for his one-of-a-kind “puzzeling art”)

👏 And many beautiful submissions from: Suma, Ophelia, Anna Maria, Jack, and Alexandria

This was more than an art show—it was a celebration of expression, creativity, and the amazing individuals who make up our community.

💬 “There’s no place like Manoogian—that’s it.” 💙

When our resident Laura says it, she means it.

In her own words about Manoogian Manor: “They’re a happy people. They’re a fun-loving people.” And honestly… we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. It’s about creating a place where people feel at home, where joy is part of everyday life, and where community truly matters.

Thank you, Laura, for sharing your heart with us—and for being such a special part of our Manoogian family.

💙 See you later, Shy… not goodbye. 💙

A couple of weeks ago, we said farewell (for now!) to Shy, who has been such an incredible part of our Life Enrichment team here at Manoogian Manor.

Shy brought so much energy, kindness, and joy to our residents—quickly becoming someone they truly looked forward to seeing each day. Her impact didn’t go unnoticed, and she’ll be deeply missed by residents and staff alike.

The Life Enrichment team and many of our residents gave her a heartfelt send-off as she heads off to chase her dreams ♡

We’re hopeful this is just a “see you later,” as she may return in August to volunteer—and we would absolutely love that.

Wishing you all the best, Shy. You’ll always be part of the Manoogian family.

Our residents have been getting into the Easter spirit with all kinds of creative and tasty activities of the past week! From adorable Easter chick crafts to decorating sweet cookie nests, there’s been no shortage of smiles.

🔴 Red Wings spirit was strong at Manoogian Manor! 🏒

On Tuesday, our residents and staff showed their support for the Detroit Red Wings by rocking their best red outfits—and the energy was contagious! From head to toe, the Manor was filled with team pride, smiles, and plenty of hockey talk.

There’s something special about coming together to cheer on our hometown team—it brings out camaraderie, memories, and a whole lot of fun.

Let’s go Red Wings! ❤️

🐟 A meaningful outing filled with gratitude and great food ✝️

We recently enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Fish Fry at St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Parish—a place that means so much to our community. This parish faithfully visits Manoogian Manor each month to offer communion, prayer, and spiritual support to our residents, along with special services throughout the year such as Ash Wednesday.

As a small thank-you, we make it a tradition to attend their annual fish fry—and it did not disappoint! Our residents enjoyed a delicious cod dinner with all the trimmings (and yes… a few couldn’t resist dessert!).

It was a beautiful day, filled with fellowship, appreciation, and connection.

🍀 St. Patrick’s Day fun at Manoogian Manor! 🍀

Our homemade Shamrock Shakes (a 10+ year tradition!) were a hit once again—our resident food critic, Larry, says they’re the best in town!

We also enjoyed live music from Rob Crozier (Rob Sings For You) a talented one-man band who had everyone toe-tapping to Irish, Gospel, Jazz, and Soul. With a little non-alcoholic Irish coffee and green “beer,” fun prizes, and lots of laughter, the day was full of lucky moments.

And the celebration didn’t stop there—festivities continued all week with treats, taste tests, and more music!
