The Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged In 1949 the first "Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged" was opened in a small farmhouse in Detroit. and Mrs.

This was made possible through the efforts of thirteen dedicated Armenian women and the entire Armenian community. In 1964, a ten acre parcel of land was purchased in order to meet the demands of caring for the elderly. Manoogian Manor became a reality with the dreams, foresight and determination of many individuals, as well as the generous support of our benefactors, Mr. Alex Manoogian. In 1970 the doors opened and the facility was officially dedicated to the memory of Mr. Alex Manoogian's parents: The Takvor and Takouhi Manoogian Manor. Since these begining days, Manoogian Manor expanded to house 70 residents, ensuring our elderly a continuance of family life filled with peace comfort and security.

Pizza, memories, and a whole lot of heart 🍕❤️

Our outing to Niki’s Pizza was nothing short of amazing — and for good reason! Voted one of the Top 5 pizza places in Detroit, Niki’s delivers a delicious soft center with a crisp crust, endless toppings, and unbeatable flavor.

We even lucked out with half-off pizza on Wednesday (yes, please 😄).

The staff went above and beyond — from dusting off and laying down a stored ramp to make sure everyone was comfortable, to our wonderful waiter and his mother at the register. Every detail was handled with care.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Agatha, the owner and Niki’s daughter-in-law — truly beautiful inside and out.

And while Larry isn’t pictured, this was one of his favorite spots back in the day. He was the first to sign up after spotting it on the November calendar and was thrilled to report it’s just as good as his first visit 25+ years ago.

One last Christmas-time post before we officially turn the page 🎄❤️

We couldn’t wrap up the season without sharing these wonderful moments from when AGBU Alex and Marie Manoogian School high school students volunteered with us here at Manoogian Manor.

Their visit was filled with kindness and energy — from a thoughtful wheelchair wash to fun floor games, snacks, and joyful caroling.

They also delivered handmade Christmas cards to our residents, each one bringing smiles and heartfelt appreciation.

Seeing young people give their time, voices, and compassion made the holiday season even more meaningful for everyone involved.

Moments like these remind us that Christmas spirit isn’t just about the day itself — it’s about connection, service, and shared joy.

Big screens, big engines, and an unforgettable day out 🚗🎬

A little while back, we loaded up the Manor van and headed out for a special day trip to the The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation's IMAX Theater — with a full group of residents all geared up and ready to go.

Adriana, Bryce, and Marcie joined our residents for lunch at the café inside before settling in for the main event.

We watched Hot Rods & Muscle Cars of Detroit on the GIANT screen, and it did not disappoint.

The sights, sounds, and larger-than-life cars brought excitement, memories, and plenty of conversation long after the credits rolled.

We’re still catching up on some wonderful holiday moments — and this one was too good not to share 🎄✨

Before Christmas, Revive Church of Novi blessed Manoogian Manor with beautiful and fun Christmas caroling that instantly lifted everyone’s spirits.

Our residents loved every song, but their rendition of Feliz Navidad truly stole the show — it was upbeat, joyful, and incredibly cool to experience live.

Smiles, laughter, and toe-tapping filled the room as holiday cheer spread from note to note.

Moments like these remind us how powerful music and community can be, especially during the holiday season.

We’re so grateful to Revive248 Church for sharing their time, voices, and joy with our residents.

Before Christmas, we headed out for a fun movie outing and enjoyed seeing Rental Family together on the big screen.

It was a pretty good movie, but one moment stood out above the rest — catching Alexandra looking up at the screen with pure wonder in her eyes.

That look perfectly captured the joy of experiencing a movie together, larger than life, surrounded by friends.

Watching a film at AMC Livonia made the day feel extra special, and the only thing missing was reclining seats 😄

And let’s be honest… everyone was a little too full of Arby’s to make room for popcorn 🍿😂

We had so many wonderful moments from our family and resident Christmas party that we just had to share more 🎄✨

Santa continued making his rounds, spending time with each resident and family and adding a little extra magic to the day 🎅

Christmas joy filled every corner of Manoogian Manor during our family and resident Christmas party 🎄✨

It was so special to welcome families in to celebrate the season together, sharing smiles, hugs, and holiday cheer.

The highlights of the day included a very special visit from Santa, who took time to greet each of our residents and their loved ones, as well as a performance from "My Three Friends" quartet.

From laughter to heartfelt moments, the room was filled with warmth and connection.

Celebrations like this remind us how important family, tradition, and togetherness are — especially during the holidays.

We’re playing a little catch-up and sharing some of the wonderful moments that made Christmas at Manoogian Manor so special 🎄✨

One of these special memories was turning “Santa’s pantry” into an assembly line to create 50+ gift bags for all of our residents.

With two trips to Dollar Tree and a few busy hours of sorting, organizing, and packing, these bags came together with lots of holiday spirit and teamwork.

Every resident received a Christmas gift bag, filled with cheer and thoughtfulness, because everyone deserves to feel remembered and celebrated.

A huge shout-out to our L.E.’s — Marcie, Bryce, and Miniya — who were clearly Santa’s favorite elves this year 🎅🧝‍♀️

Moments like these are a beautiful reminder that the heart of the holidays lives in the joy of giving.
