Comment below if you have noticed more nighttime feeding when your baby became more mobile. 👇🏼

This is another reason why sleep training might not be a great idea during stages of increased mobility and distraction. Many babies load up and get most of their calories at night. 🚼

This may seem a little crazy in our culture, but it’s true!

This has been found through studies comparing biological normal weaning for humans compared to other mammals. And in many other parts of the world this is very much true and common.

Many global and national health organizations have recommendations to breastfeed for AT LEAST two years. 🤱🏼

Remember that weaning usually is a very slow process and you can breastfeed for as long as you and your baby are happy to breastfeed!

All the incredible benefits continue. 💪🏼

So no more closet nursing your toddlers people!! 💕

Some studies have found that breastfeeding parents got more total sleep than parents who mixed- or exclusively formula-fed their infants. 🍼

Exclusively breastfeeding parents also might have an easier and faster time falling asleep because of a hormonal release of prolactin while breastfeeding which helps to induce sleep. 😴

Share with a friend that might think that formula feeding is the answer to more sleep!

“Is this normal!?” -said every new parent ever 😳

Studies show that one of the most common reasons for weaning or unnecessary supplementation is perceived low milk supply. Many families feel this way because of infant behaviors such as crying. 😩

Lactation consultants can help families understand what infants are trying to communicate, what is normal, and what are signs of low milk supply.

You can absolutely reach all your breastfeeding goals even after a cesarean birth! 🎉

Here are 6 tips to help you prepare for success:
🔹Inform your hospital staff that you wish to exclusively breastfeed.
🔹Have someone place baby against your chest, skin-to-skin as soon as possible. Practice skin-to-skin many times a day!
🔹If your baby has to be separated or can’t nurse right away, start hand-expressing within 1-2 hours after birth.
🔹Keep baby in your hospital room around the clock. This is called “rooming in”.
🔹Practice different breastfeeding positions to find one that is most comfortable. Football or side lying position might be best.
🔹Ask for help and rest!
