🔵🔴🔵 Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week is now underway, February 9th - 15th, which centers on the theme, “This Is My Place.” This campaign emphasizes the importance of helping children and young people feel a sense of belonging at school, in social settings, in their community, and even at home. Feeling accepted and connected plays a vital role in emotional well-being and can have lasting, positive effects on mental health and resilience.

For instance, one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to build connection and belonging is through kindness. Acts of kindness help everyone strengthen relationships, foster empathy, and remind each of us that we are not alone. Choosing to move through each day with compassion and understanding can make a difference, creating positive change and a more caring world.

For professional counseling services for children and all age groups, appointments are available at Mountain Laurel Integrated Healthcare, located at 3 Mile Curve in Logan, WV, and on Buffalo Creek Road in Chattaroy, WV.

Children’s Mental Health Week is the perfect time to begin—or continue—leading with kindness.

02/07/2026

🟣 National Cancer Prevention Month in February 2026 focuses on reducing cancer risk through healthy lifestyle choices, screenings, and awareness, with over 2.1 million new cases expected in the nation this year. Key recommended actions to reduce risk include avoiding to***co, maintaining a healthy weight, protecting skin from UV rays, eating a protein anx plant-based diet, and getting recommended cancer screenings.

Since this is National Cancer Prevention Month, it is the perfect time to raise awareness about reducing cancer risk and promoting healthier lifestyles. While not all cancers can be prevented, up to 50% of cancer cases are linked to preventable factors such as smoking, poor diet, and lack of physical activity. Taking proactive steps now can help protect your health for years to come.

Early detection saves lives! Medical evaluations and regular screenings can often catch cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages. Talk to your Mountain Laurel Integrated Healthcare practitioner about screenings for:

🔹 Breast cancer – Mammograms starting at age 40 (or earlier for high-risk individuals)
🔹 Colorectal cancer – Colonoscopies beginning at age 45
🔹 Cervical cancer – Pap smears and HPV testing
🔹 Lung cancer – Low-dose CT scans for high-risk individuals, such as longtime smokers
🔹 And many more.

Join our team at Mountain Laurel—at our clinic at Logan and Chattaroy, WV— in making a difference by taking important steps to protect your health and the health of your loved ones.
