Behind every functioning hospital is a biomedical technician keeping critical equipment running.

Across our network this month, biomeds installed patient monitors and beds, serviced oxygen systems, maintained endoscopy equipment, repaired laboratory analyzers, and kept water purification and compressor systems operating.

Feb. 5 — The Karachi Adventist Hospital Dental Clinic in Pakistan celebrated its grand reopening after a $100,000 renovation supported by the General Conference Health Ministries Department.

The expanded clinic now features modern equipment and refreshed treatment spaces. Church leaders, hospital administrators, partners, and dental staff gathered to tour the facility and pray for the clinic and its ministry.

The renewal marks an important first step toward restoring Karachi Adventist Hospital’s long tradition of healing in the city.

Staff at Hôpital Adventiste d’Haïti have started a football team, bringing together colleagues from across the hospital. Led in part by COO Mackenson Christophe, along with other hospital leaders, the team plays local groups, including nearby university employees. The Malamulo Adventist Hospital dental team headed out for outreach in a local village again. This time, working alongside PAACS residents.

The Sherwins have long desired to expand community outreach and education, and 2026 marked the beginning. The dental team shared a short oral health talk and spent the day providing free extractions for those in need. Dr. Sherwin and two residents spoke with approximately 70–80 community members, addressing common myths and misconceptions about healthcare and disease. The surgery team also provided free screenings.

As Malamulo continues expanding outreach while strengthening essential hospital infrastructure, ongoing support and prayer remain vital.

In many of AHI’s hospitals across Africa, biomedical technicians keep lifesaving equipment running. Their work ensures patients receive safe, reliable care every day.

Over the last month, our techs completed key repairs and maintenance, including: fixing a hematology analyzer, removing a blockage from a suction machine, servicing a dialysis machine, repairing another suction unit, and performing preventive maintenance on an oxygen concentrator and AC units and much more.

Baraka Adventist Hospital (BAH) continues to provide essential care to both the local community and Sudanese refugees in Eastern Chad. Despite limited resources and challenging conditions, the team remains committed to serving with compassion.

The hospital recently distributed food and soap to refugees in Baraka and provided free surgeries and medications to those in need. BAH also delivered food supplies to nearly 480 households in the Abougoudam refugee camp.

At Hôpital Adventiste d’Haïti (HAH), the resilience of the staff and patients shines through every day. Even amid threats from gangs, limited resources, and ongoing instability, their gratitude and determination continue to inspire all who witness their courage. Every challenge becomes a testament to their strength and commitment to hope.

One of those stories is Watson’s. After traveling nearly 100 miles with a severe leg injury, he received care from HAH surgeons Drs. Fontulmé and Derifond, both trained at the hospital. Even after a long and difficult journey back for follow-up care, he arrived with gratitude, saying, “Mwen pap dekouraje non” — I will not be discouraged. With his determination, supported by the dedication of the HAH team, progress and healing become possible.

On November 5, Adventist Health International, in collaboration with the Global Health Institute at Loma Linda University Health and other partners, hosted its annual Virtual Leadership Summit, bringing together Adventist healthcare leaders from around the world. This year’s fully online event connected 400 attendees from 178 cities across 68 countries to explore global health topics, workforce challenges, medical education, and innovations in nursing, dentistry, research, and infrastructure.

The Summit featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, devotional reflections, and institutional updates, made possible through the generous support of AHI, Loma Linda University Health, and the General Conference Departments of Education and Health Ministries.
