You may mostly be familiar with the cosmetic facial and body gua sha (which is also amazing!) But did you know that the traditional way to gua sha involves scraping a smooth-edged tool deeply across the skin until a sha (rash) appears? This technique helps to promote circulation and relieve muscle tension, while also stimulating blood flow, releasing toxins, and reducing pain or inflammation ♥️
When done in the first 24 hours of illness, it helps the body to release toxins quicker and boost immunity to shorten the flu/cold 😷
Similar to cupping, the sha will be gone within a few days. I always instruct my patients to bundle up after a gua sha treatment until the pores close🧣
