Honoring Our Veterans

Today, and every day, we pause in gratitude for the men and women who have served our country with courage, dedication, and sacrifice.

Your service has protected our freedoms, strengthened our communities, and inspired generations. We are deeply thankful for all you’ve given, and continue to give, in the name of love for country and neighbor.

To all who have served and their families: thank you.

Meet Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient, Charlie Saulenas. He served from 1967-1969. As commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Hollywood Chapter, he was responsible for convincing the California DMV that charging $53 for the Purple Heart was improper! Today, the license plate is free.

Thank you to Charlie, and to all who have served!

Thanksgiving may look a little different this year, and that’s okay. 💛

Take a quiet moment for gratitude: for the memories behind you, the people beside you, and the moments still to come.

Wherever and however you gather, know that we see you, and we’re thankful for you.

This November, we’re honoring the courage, sacrifice, and service of our Veterans.

Meet Robert "Bob" Habel. He served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1969 and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. As a Commissary man Third Class, he worked as a Navy cook, preparing meals for those stationed on base. During that time, the Panama Canal was owned by the United States, and Marines were assigned to guard the perimeter of Russian ships passing through. His team prepared lunches for the Marines, who were not permitted to eat Russian food. Armed and on alert, the Marines ensured that no one boarded or left the ships. It was a unique and little-known experience that left a lasting impression on him.

Thank you for inspiring us through your strength, dedication, and love of country.

We all stay busy.

After losing his dad, Tim now thought differently about death. It had always been a topic that he avoided.

But, his dad had preplanned, and it meant the world to them. It was truly a gift of love. The service gave closure to them, and it offered a way to connect with people who had been in their lives. Hear his story.

Hello, November 🌊

The days may be shorter, but the sunsets are just as breathtaking. Here’s to a month filled with gratitude, reflection, and the calm only the ocean can bring.

May your Halloween be bright, breezy, and just the right amount of spooky!

What are some of the best things people have said to support you on your grief journey? How did it make you feel?

Sometimes, just acknowledging those around us and small acts of kindness can help us to feel more connected. If you have never kept a gratitude journal to jot these things down, this is a great time to start!

Remember, amazing things happen when you offer a word of encouragement to another.

Día de los Mu***os candles, flowers, and traditions are all meaningful elements in honoring the souls of the departed during this vibrant Mexican holiday. Also known as the Day of the Dead, this special celebration takes place on November 1st and 2nd and highlights the importance of cultural beliefs of life and death in Mexican heritage.

On November 1st, we will be hosting this celebration with several community partners at Coastal Funeral Center. We hope that you will join us that evening!

The Evolution of Coastal Funeral Center

A.M. Gamby is now Coastal Funeral Center

We are excited to share important news regarding the evolution of our company and extensive rebranding effort designed to mirror the success of our parent company, Green Hills Memorial Park.

The name change will allow us to present ourselves as truly the most innovative and trusted funeral provider in the South Bay and Palos Verdes Peninsula. As a staple in the community for 80+ years, we will continue our commitment to be a dedicated guardian of family and community heritage.

Our new company name and logo better expresses our concept to serve the families that trust us either in a time of need or advance planning. We have listened to feedback on what is expected today and have empowered our team to ensure a Life Celebrated Perfectly.
