Did you know❓
📌Each year, more than 13,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the United States. Yet cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers today. In most cases cervical cancer can be prevented through early detection and treatment of abnormal cell changes that occur in the cervix years before cervical cancer develops.
📌Over 90% of cervical cancers are caused by HPV (human papillomavirus). HPV is spread through sexual activity.
📌There are more than 100+ HPV strains, of which only a few cause cancer. HPV infection often has no symptoms and most people don't even know they have HPV.
📌The HPV Vaccine is a powerful tool in preventing cervical cancer. The vaccine prevents 9 strains of HPV including 7 high-risk cancer strains that can cause cervical, a**l, throat, pe**le, vulvar and vaginal cancers.
🌟WHO SHOULD GET THE VACCINE🌟
Even though the vaccine is approved for ages 9-45, and recommend for ages 9 to 26 year old, the ideal ages for the vaccine are ages 11-12.
❓Why❓
📌Preteens produce more antibodies after vaccination, resulting in a more robust and effective protection against HPV.
📌The HPV vaccine is most effective if given before HPV exposure (sexual activity).
Individuals over the age of 26 should talk to their healthcare provider to determine if it would be beneficial for you.
