This week Darby is back in our crematory to address how it is we are able to send cremated remains to someone through the mail. With the transplantation of many families, it is often not feasible for travel to pick a loved one's cremated remains up. The United States Postal Service is currently the only approved carrier to transport cremated remains and it is done so through the packaging kits they provide. Cremated remains must be sent through priority express mail, be labeled on all 6 sides, and often times do require a signature.

We are certainly always happy to help folks through this process because it can seem complicated at first, but from our experience in working with the postal staff, they have been very helpful in making sure there are never any issues.

In this week's edition we are answering a question received from Terry on how we move decedents around the funeral home. Like many older funeral homes, our building dates back to the 1800s and originally served as a residence before being converted to a funeral home officially in 1908. With our preparation room, show room, office, and more being in our basement, we rely heavily on our lift to move decedents, caskets, chair racks, and other heavier equipment between levels with ease.

We hope this video provides a little bit of an inside look into our day-to-day operations here and some of the tools we have here to help us do our jobs to the best of our abilities.
