β€’ Skin Cancer Awareness month β€’

β˜€οΈColorado - one of the sunniest states and also with the highest average elevation of any state - has the nation's highest per-capita rate of skin cancer. Melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer, is the fifth-most diagnosed cancer for men in Colorado and the sixth for women.

⚠️ Skin cancer awareness is a crucial topic for us dermatologists. Skin cancer affects nearly 5 million Americans every year. It is important to us that we educate our patients and community on the importance of early detection. We go even further by training primary care providers to better detect the signs of skin cancer among their patients to ensure early diagnosis. We also consider it our role to speak in the media to inform the general public and answer the most common questions people have regarding this topic.

➑️ We’d like to highlight for their very resourceful website for patients πŸ™.

Here are 5 good reasons why you should consider visiting a dermatologist:
1️⃣ You want to optimize your skincare routine but are overwhelmed by all the options out there.

2️⃣ You have several unchecked moles and a family history of melanoma.

3️⃣ You think you may be suffering from a skin disease but have never been clearly diagnosed.

4️⃣ You're suffering from a skin disease and are unhappy with your current treatment.

5️⃣ You're considering cosmetic procedures but are unsure what actually works or is safe specifically for you.

🌹 Rosacea Awareness month 🌹

What a poetic name for this disease, don't you think?

In fact, Rosacea can cause more than redness, from which it takes its name. There are so many signs and symptoms that rosacea has 4 subtypes:
β€’1 Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea
Causes redness, flushing, visible blood vessels

β€’2 Papulopustular rosacea
Causes redness, swelling, and acne-like breakouts

β€’3 Phymatous rosacea
Skin thickens and has a bumpy texture

β€’4 Ocular rosacea
Eyes red and irritated, eyelids can be swollen, and the person may have what looks like a sty.

πŸ’‘ Rosacea is a pretty common skin disease among fair-skinned and blue-eyed people. In fact, Bill Clinton πŸ‘¨β€πŸ¦³, Princess Diana πŸ‘Έ, Cameron Diaz πŸ‘© have all suffered from rosacea.

🌹 Rosacea Awareness month 🌹

Rosacea is a pretty common, yet poorly understood, skin disease, touching 16 million Americans. A National Rosacea Society survey found that 95% of rosacea patients had known little or nothing about its signs and symptoms prior to their diagnosis.

This skin disease often begins with a tendency to blush or flush more easily than other people. The redness can slowly spread beyond the nose and cheeks to the forehead and chin. Even the ears, chest, and back can be red all the time. With time, people who have rosacea often see permanent redness in the center of their face, potentially turning into a life-disruptive disorder.

➑️ While the cause of rosacea is unknown and there is no cure, today medical help is available to control the signs and symptoms.

If you need a diagnosis, or if you are looking for a treatment, we can help! Schedule an appointment with Dr Sagehpour πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ or Dr Newman πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ.

πŸ’‘ The National Rosacea Society provides very useful ressources and support to people suffering from Rosacea.
