Today is Certified Nurses Day! What does this mean? A certified nurse is an RN who has voluntarily earned a credential validating his or her specialized knowledge, skills and experience in a specific area such as emergency, critical care or medical surgical nursing. March is National Colore**al Awareness Month. The Colore**al Cancer Alliance is calling for urgent action following new evidence from the American Cancer Society that colore**al cancer is now the leading cause of cancer-related death among men and women under the age of 50. Colore**al cancer is highly treatable if caught early and screening now begins at age 45 for people at average risk. Some things you might be on the look-out for include: a change in bowel habits, persistent abdominal discomfort, re**al bleeding, weakness or fatigue or unexplained weight loss. Colore**al cancer is the second deadliest cancer in the United States among men and women combined, according to the Colore**al Cancer Alliance. Yet it is often preventable and highly treatable when detected early. That is why our colleagues are wearing blue to help educate our community about colore**al cancer, the importance of routine screening and steps everyone can take to protect their health.
