Puppies at a meeting 😀

What an incredible time in Orlando for the NexTech Edge meeting! ☀️ It was an honor to participate as a Key Opinion Leader and engage with so many brilliant minds in our field.

Some highlights included:
🎙️ Recording a podcast with on using photos in TouchMD to enhance patient education and streamline the blepharoplasty consultation process.
👥 Leading Roundtable Discussions: It was great to facilitate focused, interactive conversations on key challenges and innovations.
🗣️ Participating in Panel Discussions: I loved sharing the stage with fellow experts to predict the future of our industry.

While sharing my own experience was rewarding, the best part of these meetings is always the people. I learned so much from other speakers, reconnected with old friends, and made fantastic new connections.🤝

And yes, there was even a moment to truly decompress with puppies! 🐶🤍

Feeling recharged, inspired, and already looking forward to the next one!

She always felt like her eyes made her look more tired than she really was. No matter how much sleep she got, the under-eye bags and dark circles told a different story.

After a lower lid blepharoplasty to remove the under-eye bags and laser skin resurfacing to improve skin quality and pigmentation, her eyes finally reflect how she feels—rested, refreshed, and confident.

The goal was never to change how she looks—just to remove the things that were making her look tired. The result is a smoother lid–cheek transition, brighter skin under the eyes, and a naturally rejuvenated appearance.

She still looks like herself… just a more refreshed version.
And the best part? Results will continue to improve as healing progresses over the coming months.

Proud Coach Moment🏆

What a season for this group of boys. 🏒

Hard work, early mornings, long drives, and a lot of heart led to something special. This team battled all year, kept getting better every game, and capped it off by bringing home their third tournament championship of the season.
More than the wins and trophies, it’s the friendships, the commitment to each other, and the way these players competed every time they stepped on the ice that made this season unforgettable.
Proud of this group and everything they accomplished. The future is bright. 💪🥅

Setting the clock BACK, not forward😀

She told me the same thing I hear from so many young patients: “People keep asking if I’m tired… even when I’m not.”😴

Her eye bags 🛍️ and dark circles made her look exhausted all the time, even on her best days.

Makeup could only do so much, and it never addressed the real issue — volume loss and puffiness around the eyes.🫩

To refresh her appearance, I performed a lower lid blepharoplasty to smooth the under-eye bags, combined with fat transfer to the cheeks to restore natural support to the lower eyelids. We also used nanofat injections to help improve the dark circles and skin quality under the eyes.

The result? A brighter, more rested version of herself 🌞 — without changing what makes her look like her.

These photos are just 6 weeks after surgery, and she already looks dramatically more refreshed.

The most exciting part is that healing and skin color and quality will continue to improve for up to a year.

No more “You look tired.”
Just “You look great.”🤗

Feeling incredibly grateful to have been invited back to the University of California, San Diego Oculofacial Course as a keynote speaker.

I had the privilege of speaking on facial fat grafting, instructing in the cadaver lab, and—just as importantly—learning from the outstanding faculty and fellow speakers who continue to advance our field. The exchange of ideas, techniques, and experience is what keeps our specialty evolving.

Returning to UCSD was especially meaningful for me. I completed my oculoplastic surgery training there from 2001–2003, and it was truly special to reconnect with my preceptor Dr Don Kikkawa and the incredible team. Full circle moments like this remind me how fortunate I am to be part of such a dedicated and inspiring community.

Thank you to everyone who made this course such a success, and to Dr Rolika Bandai, Dr Kikkawa, Dr Bobby Korn, and Dr CatherineLiu for inviting me. Honored, humbled, and energized.

There’s something special about the people who knew you before careers, before families, before life moved at full speed.
These are the friends who sat next to you in lecture halls, shared late-night study sessions, celebrated small victories, and helped carry you through the exhausting, uncertain moments of college and medical school when quitting sometimes felt easier than continuing.
Years later, we reunited — not in hospitals or conference rooms, but on the slopes, laughing like no time had passed. The same friendships that helped us get through some of the hardest years of our lives somehow feel even more meaningful now.
Different paths, different cities, but the bond remains the same. Grateful for friendships built in the trenches that turned into a lifetime connection.
Proof that some chapters never really close — they just get better with time. And 3 feet of snow in a week helped too⛷️🏂🥳🎉

Congratulations to both the men’s and women’s USA Olympic hockey teams for beating Canada to win gold medals!
✅ Jack Hughes lost two teeth in regulation before scoring the winning goal in overtime
✅ The men’s Gold Medal win came 46 years to the day after the 1980 team beat the Soviets
✅ This was the third Gold Medal for both teams (men: 1960, 1980, 2026; women: 1998, 2018, 2026)
✅ The men are pictured with the jersey of Johnny Gaudreau, who was tragically killed in a bicycle accident in 2024. Gaudreau’s son and daughter are also in the picture with the team.

✨ From Heavy to Bright: A Total Eye Transformation

Ever feel like you’re fighting your own eyelids just to stay looking “awake”? 🥱

Our patient came to us complaining of heavy eyelids, but after a closer look, we discovered the culprit wasn’t just the lids—it was a combination of brow ptosis (heavy brows) and excess eyelid skin. When the brow sits low, it pushes down on the eyes, making them feel tired and heavy regardless of how much sleep you get.

The Transformation Strategy

To give her the refreshed, open look she wanted without looking “done,” we took a dual-approach:

✅ Endoscopic Brow Lift: This subtly lifted the foundation, relieving that “weighed down” feeling from the forehead.

✅ Upper Blepharoplasty: I removed just the right amount of excess skin to define the crease.

The Result?

Pure radiance. 🌟 By staying conservative, I preserved her natural character while making her eyes look and feelsignificantly lighter. No more “heavy” feeling at the end of the day!

Check out these before and afters to see how a specialized, anatomical approach creates the most natural results. 📸👇

Collaborative care in action! 🤝✨

We had the pleasure of hosting the talented Anne Mailhot, PA-C in the OR today. It’s always a privilege to share our surgical techniques with the colleagues who trust us with their patients.

Seeing the process from “table-side” only makes the recovery and post-op experience better for our shared patients. Plus, it’s always a great day when we get to talk shop with a pro!

From “Are you tired?” to “You look rested!” ✨
This lovely patient felt her resting expression didn’t match her high energy and happy demeanor. Over time, her brows began to drop, creating a heavy, tired look and deepening the “angry 11s” between her eyes.
She may look like she is frowning in the preop photos, but her brows had simply sunken so much over time that they gave her the appearance of frowning.
Swipe to see the transformation after an EndoscopicBrow Lift (supported by EndoTines)! ➡️
By lifting the brow and the underlying muscles, we were able to:
✅ Open up the eye area significantly.
✅ Soften the frown lines between the eyebrows.
✅ Give her a brighter, more approachable, and youthful appearance—without looking “surprised.”
She is already loving her new, refreshed look! What do you think of this change? Let us know below! 👇
