Independence at Home IAH offers no-cost programs and services designed to assist older adults and their caregivers.

Independence at Home is a community service of SCAN, a senior-focused organization founded in Long Beach, California in 1977. The goal then was to create a program to provide seniors easy access to community-based services that would allow them to remain healthy and independent at home. Today, Independence at Home offers a range of programs to meet the needs of seniors, disabled adults and their caregivers -- including government programs and in-home assistance, case management and referrals to resources. 83 years and counting! Lyle and Eleanor Gittens have just been confirmed as the Oldest Married Couple Ever by Guinness World Records!

They met in 1941 on a college basketball court and tied the knot on a three-day pass during WWII. When asked for their secret to a record-breaking love? Eleanor said, "We love each other," and Lyle simply replied, "I love my wife."
