We are pleased to announce the newest addition to our healthcare team, Corrine Kaveny PA-C. Corrine brings years of experience and a warm. caring personality to our practice. Corrine was born and raised in Loveland Colorado. She attended undergrad at Colorado State University, (BS psychology) with certificate study in criminal justice. She worked in Mental Health for 4 years doing counseling and behavior modification in 5-18 year olds.

"I decided I wanted to learn more about mental illness and general disease process, treatment and management which inspired me to go to PA school."

She attended PA school at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook NY. Graduated 2013, and moved to Long Beach right after graduation. She is married, and a pround mother of 2 beautiful boys and 2 cats

She enjoys all things outdoors, sports, hiking, spin, music, travel, animals, watching movies!

7 tips to losing weight:
1. Define success based on your own views (not someone else's)
2. Set your goals based on what your new definition of success is.
3. Deligate and do less (you can't do everything, its okay to ask for help)
4. Workout smarter not harder (if not getting to your goal, working out harder and longer may not give you the results you want)--try HIIT
5. Include flexability training (avoid injury and reduce stress, try yoga)
6. Take a close look at your diet. Count calories. (If already on strict calorie count you may not be eating enough. Could cause your metabolism to slow)
7. Reduce stress/get more sleep. (If you are under a lot of stress your body will try to protect you by increasing stress hormones that will cause to you gain more abdominal fat).

I love this app! We live very stressful lives. The wife and I have been using this app to meditate on a daily basis. Since we started I noticed improved sleep, more deep sleep (I monitor nightly on my Apple Watch), and feel reduced stress despite more going on in life at this time. Link between eating processed foods and cancer. Learn to eat REAL food. Avoid processed foods. When you walk into a grocery store, walk along the around (along the wall) and eat those foods. Stay away from the middle. More real food, less box, bag, can foods.

HIIT vs. tradtional aerobic exercise study on women published in the International Journal of Obesity.

HIIT group 20 min. 3 times/week for 15 weeks (LOST 7.1 lbs)
vs.
Traditional Cardio 40 min 3 times/week for 15 weeks (GAINED 2.1 lbs)

Results: HIIT group lost up to 7.1lbs (9.5% DECREASE in abdominal fat)
Traditional Cardio gained up 2.1lbs (10.5% INCREASE in abdominal fat)
