Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center:
The Region’s First Facility for Brain Tumor Treatment

Since opening in 2007, the David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center has maintained its pioneering distinction as the first hospital in central and southern New Jersey dedicated to the specialty of neuro-oncology, the branch of medical science focused on brain tumors and other tumors of
the central nervous system (CNS). This state-of-the-art center provides a full spectrum of comprehensive services to treat benign and malignant tumors originating in the brain and spinal cord — the major parts of the CNS — as well as neurological complications of cancer that has spread to other regions of the body. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center is led by Sumul Raval, M.D., a board-certified neurologist who is among only 200 physicians in the United States fellowship trained in the field of neuro-oncology. A team of highly skilled professionals from a broad range of specialized fields work together with the mission of providing the best clinical management and treatment options for brain tumor patients and enhancing the quality of life of patients and their families by addressing their multidimensional needs. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center falls under the ever-widening umbrella of comprehensive cancer services offered through the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth, patients have centralized access to the most advanced diagnostic tools to locate cancer and the latest in sophisticated methods of neurosurgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy found anywhere in the region.

We have expanded to include children who have a chronically ill parent or a deceased parent from other diseases, sudden death, drug overdose, su***de, mental illness, active military duty or violent crime.
