Summer 2022 is almost here...

Unfortunately, we won't be.

We are grateful to have had an amazing 10 years spreading smiles and sharing the practice of yoga with you!

While we could not come to terms on our program with the city for this season, it was an honor to have worked with Carl Jennings and the City of Long Branch Department of Recreation ~ and to have had the support of the Department of Public Works. (The beach sweepers were always on it!)

We have also been blessed to have had some really fabulous teachers on the sand ~ and they are all going to miss being part of your summer!

All of you, our community, made West End Beach Yoga a uniquely special place to practice.

Thank you for the memories, for the friendships forged, and for making us your happy place at the Jersey Shore!

Please keep practicing! Be safe ~ and stay healthy!

We'll see you on the sand... in the studios, and around town!

"Gratitude is one of the sweet shortcuts to finding peace of mind and happiness inside. No matter what is going on outside of us, there's always something we could be grateful for." ~ Barry Neil Kaufman
We're super grateful for another amazing season of beach yoga!
It was our pleasure to share the joy of the practice of yoga with you ~ all summer long!
Be well ~ and we'll see you on the sand again in 2022!

"What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from" ~ TS Elliott
The end is always the beginning of something else, isn't it?
Starry skies give way to strokes glistening of gold on the horizon each dawn; and baked summer days yield to the coolness of fall evenings and the sounds of surrendered leaves in the breeze as crickets chirp and the sun pushes west.
What might appear to be an end in one moment in retrospect is obviously simply a transition to what follows in the next.
So too we are always transitioning, or "dancing," as Michael Stone once said, between form and impermanance.
Your inhale invites each next exhale... and grounds you somewhere in between.
You start where you are, and you end where you begin.
Over and over again.
Just breathe.

"One of our deepest habitual patterns is to feel that now is not enough" ~ Pema Chodron
Yet it happens every time we abandon the present and allow our thoughts to get snagged around some slight that happened days or even years ago, or to be projected somewhere eons ahead of us in time.
We can easily waste our NOWs in the worry or fear that can come with that kind of seemingly endless self-reflection and projection.
We can also fuel that pattern in not recognizing that both what we are doing and who we are with presently are infinitely more meaningful than scrolling through social media feeds of someone else's curated past.
Your NOW is far more important than their likes ~ or even your own!
James Joyce wrote of Mr. Duffy, "He lived at a little distance from his body..."
So too do we when we are not fully present.
And so we practice.

"You can become blind by seeing each day as a similar one. Each day is a different one, each day brings a miracle of its own. It's just a matter of paying attention to this miracle" ~ Paulo Coelho
And so we practice.
Warrior. Reverse warrior. Triangle pose.
Each pose is a different one. Different from the other. Different from side to side. Different from day to day.
In each one, can you notice your breath moving through you, the texture of the ground beneath your feet, the breeze against your skin, or the beating of your heart?
Don't hit snooze on the next sunrise, the next pose, or even your next breath...
Open your eyes!
When you pay attention you understand that you are a living, breathing part of the creation of each day...
You ARE the miracle!

"Stepping out of the busyness, stopping our endless pursuit of getting somewhere else, is perhaps the most beautiful offering we can make to our spirit" ~ Tara Brach
Moments of silence on the sand... these are the gifts we give ourselves.
Slow down. What's the rush?
This is why we practice: being present is the present!
It's the only place you need to be!
See you on the sand!

"If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace" ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Pause and settle into the peace that arrives when we slow down long enough to allow love, our unitive nature, to simply shine through us.💕
It's really true, when you smile the whole world smiles with you!😊
We've been spreading joy since 2012...
Join us 7 days a week at 7am and M/W/F evenings at 6:30pm thru Labor Day.
Hope to see you shining soon!☀️

"When there is silence, one finds the anchor of the universe within oneself." ~ Lao Tzu
Part of dropping anchor involves finding center and sitting still.
Even as a boat on land ~ especially in our own minds ~ there are plenty of currents to navigate.
Yet, we can steady ourselves in any moment, drift silently into stillness, and find ourselves always on sheltered, familiar ground.
Drop anchor anytime...
We'll meet you there!

"Life's too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forgive the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason.

If you get a chance, take it.

If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it'd be easy, they just promised it would be worth it." ~ Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss)
Taking it!
Meet Mark P. for your practice at 7am ;)
