I love being an optometrist, not only because it allows me to help others preserve their wonderful gift of sight, but I really enjoy getting to know my patients and their families. Whether it be prescribing glasses to a young child for the first time, teaching someone how to put in contact lenses for the first time, or catching the first signs of diabetes in the eyes before damage becomes irreversible, I love every aspect of my profession and the challenges I am presented with day to day. Big news! Dr. Neka recently purchased a new retinal camera that captures more of the retina than her old camera, and in finer detail. These photos can often show us the very first signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, some blood cancers, HIV, certain brain tumors, and more.

Big news! Dr. Neka adopted a puppy from a rescue in Denver! He’s super sweet and great with kids, but still adjusting to things. She will likely bring him into the office a few days a week once he becomes more adjusted to his new home, later this year. 🏠
