One of the most common statements we get is: “I think my child is allergic to my pet. Should I rehome him/her?” Before uprooting an animal that to whom you are their world, get tested to see if this is actually the source of your problems!

This can prevent unnecessary lifestyle changes, and even if your pet is a trigger, our custom immunotherapy regiments have allowed many patients to coexist successfully with their fur babies. Focus on changing you and not the world around you at East Texas Allergy & Asthma. 903-757-3808 for appointments.

A major shift in how parents feed their babies points to a major win for food allergic children. Advice promoted by board-certified allergists and increasingly by pediatricians indicates giving babies peanut and other allergenic foods early in life can help prevent food allergies. This can prevent a lifetime of risk and anxiety. The experts at East Texas Allergy & Asthma can guide families through this process. Contact us at 903-757-3808 for appointments.

🚨 September 29 is National Penicillin Allergy Day! 🚨

Did you know that while 1 in 10 people report a penicillin allergy, up to 95% aren’t truly allergic?
Getting tested matters—penicillin is often the safest and most effective treatment for infections. Avoiding it unnecessarily can lead to higher costs, more side effects, and increased antibiotic resistance.

✅ The good news: testing is safe and easy with a board-certified allergist.

Let’s clear the record on penicillin allergy! 💊

Some of you may know already, but East Texas Allergy & Asthma is thrilled to add Emily Williams, PA-C to our group! Prior to joining, Emily practiced at a multi-physician allergy & asthma office in Denton treating patients of all ages with environmental, food, and medication allergies.

When family plans took her east, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring her right here to Longview where her passion for helping patients is on display daily.

In addition to being a compassionate and dedicated provider, Emily is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where Dr. Chen trained, so our patients are definitely in the best of hands. She is available for new patients, follow-ups, and sick visits.
