Before any hearing test begins, we start with an otoscopy.

Otoscopy allows your audiologist to look inside the ear canal and check the health of your ear before testing. We’re looking for things like wax buildup, irritation, infection, or anything that could affect your hearing results or your comfort.

This step matters. A clear, healthy ear helps ensure your hearing test is accurate and that any recommendations we make are truly right for you.

It’s a small part of the appointment, but it plays a big role in protecting your hearing health and getting the best outcomes possible.

Did you know? Around 430 million people worldwide — that’s more than the population of the U.S. and EU combined — live with disabling hearing loss, meaning their hearing is impaired enough that communication and daily life can be seriously affected. This figure comes from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO explains that disabling hearing loss refers to a reduction in hearing greater than 35 decibels (dB) in the better-hearing ear — enough to make regular conversation difficult without support like hearing aids or cochlear implants.

As WHO puts it, “untreated hearing loss can have a devastating impact on people’s ability to communicate, to study and to earn a living.”

Let’s raise awareness — and remove barriers so that everyone has access to the care and technology they need.

Hearing care doesn’t stop once you get hearing aids.

We’re here to support you long after your fitting. That includes troubleshooting, cleanings, adjustments, and repairs to keep your devices working the way they should. If something sounds off, isn’t working properly, or just needs a little extra care, our team is ready to help.

New technology is great, but ongoing service is what makes the real difference. We’re here to take care of both.

Today, we recognize International Cochlear Implant Day 🎧

Cochlear implants have transformed access to sound for individuals with severe to profound hearing loss, supporting communication, education, and connection at every stage of life.

On February 25, we celebrate the technology, professionals, and families who make hearing possible in new ways—and the recipients whose stories remind us why hearing care matters.

Everyone needs a hearing test.

Just like your annual physical or vision exam, a hearing test is an important part of your overall health. It’s easy, non-invasive, and often covered by insurance.

If you have friends or family who haven’t had their hearing checked in a while, share this post with them. Encouragement from someone they trust can make all the difference.

Taking care of your hearing is taking care of your health.

It’s Tinnitus Awareness Week

Ringing, buzzing, or humming in your ears isn’t “just annoying” — it’s a sign your hearing may need attention.

Tinnitus affects millions of people worldwide and is often linked to hearing loss, noise exposure, and stress. For many, it can interfere with sleep, impact mental health, and reduce overall quality of life.

The good news? You don’t have to live with it alone. A hearing evaluation can help identify the cause and open the door to management options that improve daily life.

If tinnitus is part of your story, this week is a reminder to listen to your ears — and take the next step toward better hearing health. Give us a call at (903) 234-8151.
