Little Light Pediatric Therapy

Little Light Pediatric Therapy A guiding light for families and kids with speech, feeding, behavior and sensory challenges.

There is no cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all approach at Little Light. Instead, treatment plans reflect our foundational belief: that each child was created by God, uniquely and perfectly, with individual strengths and sensory challenges and therefore, that each person deserves an approach to intervention tailored to their needs. Here, families find the support and treatment they have been searching for. No one knows better than you that every child has unique needs, and that the entire family is impacted. We provide a customized approach for your child’s specific sensory challenges. As your child improves his or her functioning, you will be by their side during sessions, every step of the way.

From playing in the gym to sitting together in this room, talking through the tricky things of raising a child with sensory challenges, we believe parents deserve to be part of the whole process.

Today we're sitting down with a new family to walk through their evaluation results. Questions, concerns, hopes, and hard things included.

It’s truly an honor to be trusted with someone’s child. We don’t believe in leaving families in the dark. We walk the journey together. It's the Little Light way.

Beautiful words from our friends at Finn's Friends ♥️

You wake up every day choosing love, strength, and service—often unseen, always extraordinary. You are allowed to grieve the road you didn’t choose while fiercely loving the child you were given.

We see you, and we are thankful for every Duchenne muscular dystrophy caregiver we are honored to get to know.

I’m tucked in at home and would LOVE to see your sweet babies having fun either inside or out. I miss their sweet faces! What is your family doing on this super cold day?

“Kids do well if they can.” – Dr. Ross Greene

I’ve said this quote to countless families, and I believe it in the deepest part of my heart. Not just when kids want to do well, but when they can.

A lot of y’all have seen me posting about my new puppy on my personal page (or heard me talking about him at work 😍). Isn’t he the cutest? Those floppy ears get me every time.

Anyway, we’ve been working hard on teaching Sammy manners since he’s going to be a big dog. My son has been trying so hard to follow our guidance with letting the dog in and out and teaching him door manners, but he forgets nearly every single time. And I nag nearly every single time.

I’ve tried modeling.
I’ve tried teaching.
I’ve tried reminding.
I’ve tried scolding 🤦‍♀️😣

But he never remembers.

So today, before my son got home from school, I quietly put a little green sticky note on the door with the three steps for the dog’s door manners.

Y’all… what a reminder I was given about what I preach every day.

I glanced over and saw him reading the sticky note, without prompting, and following it perfectly.

No nagging.
No reminders.

Just a reminder to me that kids do well if they can, not just when they want to.

He didn’t need more correction.
He just needed the right support.

Found this photo memory from 2009—the day I graduated with my Master’s in OT.

Big dreams, a cap and gown… and a point-and-shoot camera because the iPhone had not yet entered the chat. 📸 😉

I had no idea I’d one day own my own practice or get to cheer on kids and families through some pretty big milestones.

So glad this girl took a leap of faith 6 years ago.

Also, where did the last 16 years go??? 😭

The hardest part of this work isn’t walking families through the difficult things.
It’s standing back when they start to shine… and learning how to say goodbye.
What an honor to walk so closely with this family for a season. So proud of you. 🤍

I love this so much. Look for their joy ❤️

I love this so much. Look for their joy ❤️

We know the holidays can be an extremely stressful time for many disabled kids and their families.
Changes in routine, travel, new visitors, unfamiliar foods, and a flood of sensory input can be overwhelming and dysregulating.

Instead of framing the season around how families can “survive” the holidays, we want to offer a different perspective:
Let’s look for their joy. Let’s celebrate it.

Lean into what brings your child comfort and happiness. Honor that.

For many kids, traditional holiday expectations may not feel joyful, and that is more than okay. Joy might look like spinning in a rolling chair, repeating a favorite line from a show, lining up beloved objects, engaging deeply with a special interest, or choosing quiet over chaos.

There is no need to perform a neurotypical, Hallmark version of the holidays.

When we center each child exactly as they are, we make space for real joy, authentic connection, and true belonging.

And when we share that joy, we help challenge harmful narratives and build a season rooted in care, acceptance, and community for disabled kids and adults alike.

Sometimes OT looks like play… because play is the work!

Today this little reindeer helped us explore:
🧠 motor planning (how do I move my body to navigate the space?)
💪 strength & core stability (pushing, pulling, resisting)
👀 visual-motor skills (hands + eyes working together)
👐 tactile input (different fabrics, textures, pressure)

For kids, learning happens best when it feels safe, playful, and meaningful.

That’s the heart of sensory-based OT.

The Little Light

Here at Little Light Pediatric Therapy, we believe each child was created by God, uniquely and perfectly. Our ultimate goal is to let the light of Christ shine through all we do and through each child we interact with along the way.

Through summer camps, enrichment programs, occupational therapy, and feeding therapy we want to help your child reach their full potential. Each program and service we offer is designed with the understanding that every child is created differently and that they are uniquely equipped to fulfill their calling in life. We provide the hope and skills necessary for your child to succeed, no matter their abilities.

Your child deserves the best, and at Little Light, that is exactly what your child receives. We know that you could choose anyone, but we know that ‘just anyone’ won’t do. Little Light Pediatric Therapy raises the bar to meet your expectations.

Welcome!
