This is a big one for us. To believe in massage therapy as beneficial for everyone means it is our responsibility as Licensed Therapists to learn about all different types of medical conditions, health history and how massage affects humans.

This is why we take the time to get to know our clients, to learn how we can safely help them. There are a few conditions we have to be especially careful with, and we are always honest with clients about those boundaries.

But to truly believe in massage, we have to adapt to meet your needs. This is why we don't offer complicated packages, or one size fits all treatment. This is why we have a designated 30 minute intake for every new client. This is why we emphasize ongoing training. This is why we do everything we do, the way we do it.

Listen, no matter what you choose to identify with we can all agree that the world is nuts right now. Sometimes you just need to escape and give your brain and body a chance to breathe free from the constant strain of everything. Around here, we believe massage therapy is so much more than a treat or a luxury reserved for special occasions. We believe massage should be a regular part of self care no different than eating healthy or staying active.

Even if you are aren't so great on the other parts of self-care this is a great place to start. We are here for you, tailored to your needs.

Pregnancy is a special experience, both for the expectant mother and for her body. There are a lot of things going on physiologically that are unique and must be considered for the best outcomes.

Our Licensed Massage Therapist, Kaylee Rutledge is well versed in understanding the common conditions and complications of pregnancy and more importantly how to safely adapt massage therapy to serve expectant mothers.

Women always want the best for their babies, and this is why they invest in themselves during pregnancy. But what is more important, is that we are here for you. Prenatal massage takes into account your mental health, your physical health and your goals during this special time.

We don't charge based on modality or what type of massage you get. We charge based on LMT experience so that we can assure you we have every technique available to help you as needed. Our therapists are the best at adapting in real time based on your needs.

We believe in informed consent, and that is ongoing throughout the session. In order for you to fully consent to treatment, you have to first be informed about it. That's why we spend time getting to know you and talking with you.

There is no reason to be overwhelmed by massage, we are here to help.

As of this morning (10/30/25) Brianna is the only therapist at TBM with appointments still left this week. And there are only a few!

She is a recent graduate, but has ambitiously pursued furthering her skillset and education, and is quickly gaining a loyal client base. We expect her to be as full as the rest of the practice in a very short time and these opportunities for last minute appointments may be few and far between.

Massage therapy suffers from a lack of standardization. Of care, of education, of certifications. In all truth this is extremely harmful to us being taken seriously. "Medical Massage" is certainly not immune to this lack of standardization.

The term has some agreements and understandings around, it being client focused, trained to evaluate for certain conditions and make accommodations based on client needs. But there is no such thing as a standardized, peer reviewed, certification. There are some educators who give workshop participants a certificate once they have completed a series of workshops. But here is where even that gets muddy as a client. A therapist may sit through a 6 hour seminar and at the end receive a certification in a technique. The same therapist can attend a program consisting of several workshops, and sometimes hundreds of hours of lecture, technique and self-study and at the end receive a similar certificate. As a consumer, there is no way for you to know the difference when you schedule an appointment.

But I digress. We aren't the only therapists dedicated to providing high quality services to build respect for this profession. We just like to shout awareness and educate the public.

For us, we operate under the flag of medical massage for a few reasons.

#1. To differentiate ourselves from shady practice. It's no secret what many people think of with massage. We get calls for "full body" or "happy endings" unfortunately often. If we haven't been clear everywhere else, let's be clear here. We are here to support health and well being, not for a "good time"

#2. Every body deserves massage. This means, regardless of ability, disease, gender, status etc. You can benefit from high skilled, therapeutic touch. It is our job as professionals to adapt safely to meet your needs and help support your outcomes.

#3. We believe in constant education, and we are absolutely education snobs. Not every continuing education resource is created equal. We believe in researching and evaluating even what we are told, because historically, medical care is a learning process. Let's be real. Humans are complex, and there is still a lot we do not know or understand. While we are constantly learning, and we love to help learn to serve our clients the best we can, we hold the unknown information with great respect.

#4. We have no hesitation with being honest and referring clients to other providers. Be that other massage therapists who we feel would be a better fit, or other professionals. We spend time networking to understand what specific needs other professionals are meeting because at the end of the day, your outcomes are the goal.

As you can see, medical massage is really a muddy term. But our goal is to help clean that up.
