Nirgunavathi Ananda, Instructor / Co-Director, has studied yoga for 32 years in France, India and the U.S. She studied Anusara Yoga with John Friend beginning in 1998 and was licensed as an Anusara Yoga teacher in 2003. She is delighted to offer the Yoga Sutras and other life enhancing yogic themes in her playfully serious alignment based Anusara Yoga classes at Lake Center Yoga. Sri Ekan,Owner / Director / Instructor, has practiced yoga and meditation for 38 years in the traditions of Kundalini Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Transcendental Meditation, Sufism, Siddha Yoga, Nithya Yoga and Anusara Yoga. He has studied with John Friend since 1996 and was certified as an Anusara Yoga Teacher in 2002. He has been teaching yoga for over 20 years and welcomes you to the transformative world of yoga at Lake Center Yoga with warmth, love and respect.

Soup Weather!

Its time for cold weather yummy tummy warming soups.

This one is a super easy 10 minute one with just cooked cauliflower, potatoes, onions, carrots and celery blended with a little delicious Earth Balance plant butter or olive oil, with added salt and pepper or a couple squirts of Braggs Aminos, or any other seasoning of choice like Onion Powder or Nutritional Yeast.

You can do it with broccoli or cabbage, or green beans too along with the other veggies. Sooo simple and satisfying to warm you up!

We had this for breakfast along with Tofu Egg Salad on Sris dehydrated crackers and his alfalpha sprouts.

Cooking Class This Sunday!

A big part of our Yoga Retreats in Costa Rica is making our gorgeous, clean, healthy, cruelty free, vegan Yogic meals together. So much fun!

Looking forward to our little mini Yoga/Cooking Retreat this Sunday which will take place both at Lake Center Yoga and the LCY home of love and light where we will have access to fresh veggies from our organic garden.

New session starts today!

Join us for the 6:30pm cleansing, purifying, detoxing Twisting Pose class to become more in touch with the Spanda, the pulsation of life, for countless benefits to body, mind and Spirit!

The key piece of Yogic life is to cleanse the body of impurities.

The theory is that once the body is cleansed and healthy, then the energy that would normally go toward dealing with disease or discomfort can then go toward higher endeavors such as deepening the inner life.

Sluggish digestive system is incompatible with good health and Twists are a great way to stimulate and nudge the digestive system and nudge the intestines.

In Yoga practice we do spinal Twists standing sitting and standing on our heads.

Yoga Master Iyengar describes Twists as a squeeze and soak action, like wringing a wet towel.

The organs are compressed during a twist, pushing out blood filled with toxins and other byproducts. When we release the twist, fresh blood flows in carrying life giving oxygen, allowing tissues to heal and rejuvenate!

Happy Hatha Tuesday!

The GrandYoginis are balancing great in Supported Navasana, Boat Pose.

Navasana strengthens your core abdominal muscles, hip flexors, psoas, quadraceps, and spinal muscles.

It aligns the spinal column and tones and strengthens the buttocks, thighs and legs.

It boosts blood flow to your abdomen which helps with detoxing and making your organs work better.

It significantly enhances focus and revitalizes mental lethargy. It facilitates the flow of life force across your entire body. It strengthens willpower, determination, and self discipline.

Happy Sunday Yogi Vegan Feast, Yum, Yum!

We had the family over last week for a fabulous Sunday feast of Vegan Enchilada Casserole which will easily feed 12 to 14.

It was so much fun to make! Our oven went out so we cooked it in the dehydrater for a few hours ๐Ÿ˜†. The cheese didn't melt but everything including the tortillas was precooked and just put it together. We roasted the veggies the day before. We only used half the amount of tortillas, so that was 2 bags of 8. We topped it with homemade guacamole, black olives, jalapeรฑo peppers, and cilantro.

It was soooo good!!! Our Grandyogini Ahni went back for thirds she loved it so much. Its very satisfying.

The rest was simple, Cole Slaw made with Veganaise Vvegan mayonnaise, organic corn on the cob from Whole Foods topped with Earth Balance Vegan Butter, and Sri's famous Rainbow Salad with his homemade dressing.

It was also Halloween colors of black and orange! Later, after a sauna we had Gabriel and Eve's Butternut Squash Soup with Danika's Sourdough Ghost Bread (recipes this week) and her Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie and Pumpkin Pie!

Never a dull palate on a plant based Yogi Vegan diet!

Resonate With Stillness in class this evening at LCY-

When we resonate with stillness we connect with our essence beyond labels, and connect with divinity and our Truth beyond limited ego, whether it be in life's circumstances or simply what is best for us in each Yoga pose.

The enlightened Yogis say, Stillness contains all the events in time and space, as well as time and space themselves. And this pervasive quietude, the great Yogis tell us, is itself divinity.

When we are in resonance with true stillness, the ups and downs of daily life (including Yoga poses) lose their immensity. We settle into the eye of the storm so to speak, whose whirlwinds are the circumstances of our lives.

Then we experience joyful equanimity, and we discover that the whirlwind is not us.
