For many people, the process of IVF has always seemed complex and mysterious.
That’s why, over the next few days, we’ll take you on an educational journey through each stage of the IVF process

5. Embryo Culture
The embryos are cultured in the lab for about 2 to 6 days. During this time, they undergo several cell divisions — from two cells to four, eight, and eventually to a blastocyst stage. Embryologists monitor their growth daily, checking for proper development, cell symmetry, and fragmentation. The goal is to identify the embryos with the best potential to implant and grow into a healthy pregnancy.

At any time, you’re welcome to contact our clinic for more information — and we’re always happy to receive your questions and provide clear answers. 💙

4. Fertilization
There are two main fertilization techniques. In conventional IVF, eggs and s***m are mixed together in a dish and left to fertilize naturally. In ICSI — intracytoplasmic s***m injection — a single s***m is injected directly into each mature egg using a micro-needle. The choice depends on the s***m quality and previous fertilization outcomes. The fertilized eggs, now called zygotes, are kept in a carefully controlled incubator that mimics natural conditions.

3. S***m Preparation
On the same day, the male partner provides a semen sample, or donor s***m is thawed if needed. The sample undergoes a process called “s***m washing,” where healthy, motile s***m are separated from debris, dead cells, and seminal plasma. This ensures that only the most active and normal s***m are used for fertilization. The result is a concentrated, high-quality s***m sample ready to meet the retrieved eggs in the lab.

2. Transvaginal Oocyte Retrieval
This is the egg collection step, performed under light sedation or anesthesia. Using ultrasound guidance, a thin needle is gently inserted through the vaginal wall into each ovarian follicle. The fluid containing the eggs is aspirated and collected into test tubes. An embryologist immediately examines this fluid under a microscope to identify and isolate the mature oocytes. The procedure usually lasts about 15–20 minutes and leaves no surgical scars. Afterward, the patient can go home the same day.

1. Ovarian Hyperstimulation
In this stage, the woman takes hormonal medications to encourage her ovaries to produce multiple mature eggs instead of just one. These hormones — mainly FSH and LH — stimulate follicle growth. During this process, doctors monitor follicle size and hormone levels closely with ultrasounds and blood tests. The goal is to ensure that several high-quality eggs mature at the same time, increasing the chances of successful fertilization later on. Once the follicles are ready, a final trigger injection helps the eggs complete maturation right before retrieval.
