🐾 B***y scootin’? Fishy smell? Constant licking back there?
It might be time to talk about a**l gland health!

A**l glands can be a real pain (literally 😅) for some dogs, especially if they struggle to empty them naturally. That’s where healthy fiber support can make a big difference!

✨ We now carry an a**l gland support supplement designed to help:
✔ Support healthy a**l gland function
✔ Promote firmer stools for more natural expression
✔ Help reduce scooting and irritation
✔ Support digestive health, too!

Sometimes a little extra fiber can go a long way toward keeping those b***y problems under control. 🍑🐶

If your pup has been scooting, licking, or dealing with recurring a**l gland issues, ask us if this supplement may be a good fit!

We have had amazing feedback from our clients that have tried it with their pups! Some of the doggos have been able to go much longer with a**l gland expression visits.

Fleas are one of the most common things we see in cats and they do not need to be present in large numbers to cause real discomfort. Even a small infestation can lead to itching, skin irritation and in some cats a full allergic reaction. Year-round prevention is the simplest way to keep your cat protected. Ask us about the right option at your next visit. 🐾🌿

⚠️Rabies Alert in Central Florida ⚠️

We want to keep our Markham Woods Animal Hospital family informed 💚

There have now been 3 confirmed rabies cases in Polk County within the past 3 weeks, involving local wildlife (most commonly raccoons or bats in our area). This indicates an increase in rabies activity nearby.

Rabies is a serious and fatal virus, but the good news is—it’s completely preventable with vaccination.

👉 Here’s how you can protect your pets and family:
• Keep your pet’s rabies vaccine up to date
• Avoid contact with wildlife or unfamiliar animals
• Be cautious of animals acting unusual, disoriented, or aggressive

Even strictly indoor pets can slip outside accidentally and then they are at risk if unvaccinated. Keep them protected.

If you have any questions about your pet’s vaccine status or possible exposure, we’re here to help 📞

Stay safe, stay protected 🐾

🐶 At Markham Woods Animal Hospital, one of the most important safety recommendations we make for every pet — whether they are indoor-only or love the outdoors — is microchipping. It’s a simple, quick procedure that can make the difference between a lost pet staying lost and a happy reunion with their family. 🐈

Many pet owners have heard of microchips, but not everyone fully understands how they work or why they are so important. Microchipping is a safe and reliable way to permanently identify your pet and greatly increase the chances that they will be returned to you if they ever get lost.

Food and skin health are more connected in dogs than most people realize. When environmental causes have been ruled out, diet is often the next place we look. The right nutritional approach can make a significant difference. If your dog's skin just will not settle down, it might be time to take a closer look at what they are eating. Schedule a consultation with us. 🐾🌿

Spring shedding can feel intense because, honestly, it often is.
Extra brushing helps manage loose coat and supports skin health, vacuuming and lint rollers keep fur from taking over the house, and a little patience goes a long way while coats adjust with the season.
Consistent grooming makes the whole process easier.
For your dog. And your couch 🐾🧹
