Sheriff Lemma will be on campus Tuesday, April 21st at 930am to present on the vision and mission of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

Last week, Sheriff Dennis Lemma testified before the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health on behalf of the Major County Sheriffs of America, addressing the rapidly evolving threats posed by emerging illicit drugs.

In his testimony, Sheriff Lemma emphasized that today’s drug landscape is evolving faster than policy and requires a coordinated system response. From law enforcement and public health to treatment and prevention, no single approach will be sufficient to meet the scale and complexity of this crisis.

Across the country, agencies are seeing the impact in real time, including the growing presence of substances like xylazine mixed with fentanyl and the continued rise of counterfeit pills driving overdoses. Sheriff Lemma stressed the importance of ensuring communities have the tools and partnerships needed to respond and protect the citizens we serve.
