As the one year anniversary of the Eaton Fire is upon us we sit back and reflect.....❤️

We have been blessed to have met several survivors this year who are still struggling with so much loss, pain and heartache and to have a team of amazing therapists at Heartstrings Counseling who have walked side by side with these survivors on their journey of healing.

We have been blessed to have received grants to be able to travel to Southern California each quarter to provide free fire survivor counseling groups in person and to be able to provide free video/telehealth counseling to each survivor who is in need.

We know the fire has changed a lot of lives and survivors have shed millions of tears ... with many more tears to come. We are blessed to shed tears with you and to be able to sit with you as you share your stories of pain and fear. Life is about walking with someone and not alone. It is our hope and our prayer that you will not ever walk alone and that you will reach out to us when you are ready.

We want you to know that we see you! We see your hearts and your pain and we aren’t going anywhere... we are here for you.

The symptoms after a disaster Iike this are real ... ptsd, trauma, lack of sleep, inability to concentrate and focus, depression, guilt, anxiety and more...some people reached out for help early on, some reached out months later and hundreds are yet to reach out. It’s never to late to make that step and start your journey of healing....

You can do that today by calling Heartstrings Counseling 916-676-7405 . You can rsvp for one of our free virtual counseling groups starting at the end of January. Dates coming soon! You can also visit our website at http://www.heartstringscounseling.org

We see you! We are here when you are ready. 🥰

IT'S TIME!!! And we would love your tips on New Year's Resolutions.

How do you figure out what your New Year's Resolution will be?
Once you have it, do you write it down?
What are some techniques for keeping resolutions?

I found this and thought I would share:
-How To Write a New Year's Resolution-
1) Focus on one goal. You might be tempted to work on two, three, or even five resolutions this upcoming year.
2) Split the major goal into smaller goals.
3) Decide on which actions you'll have to take.
4) Set a schedule.

Giving yourself the gift of mental health involves prioritizing self-care, fostering healthy habits, setting boundaries, and seeking support when needed. It is an essential, ongoing process for a balanced life, not an occasional indulgence.

Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness, and even the most severe mental health issues can be treated. Talking with a therapist or counselor can help you develop coping strategies, manage stress, improve communication skills, and work through difficult circumstances.

Did you know that AARP has featured our very own Darla Gale?!? Here is a small section of the article. Click the link below to read the full write-up "Why We Need to Feel Like We Matter."

Take time for positive self-talk. Build new neural pathways — road maps in the brain — for an extra boost of self-assuredness.

“If you tell yourself ‘I don’t matter,’ that is a negative belief,” says Darla Gale, a marriage and family therapist and founder of Darla Gale Counseling in Loomis, California. And if you keep reinforcing that statement, “your go-to is going to be ‘I don’t matter.’ ”

Instead, repeat statements to yourself, such as, “I am important,” “I have value” and “I have wisdom.”

Take stock of your contributions. Gale recommends keeping in mind that a lifetime of wins and losses can be used for the greater good — and that matters.

“Older adults forget they hold a wealth of knowledge and experience with them … and one of the most important roles they play is passing down that knowledge and wisdom to younger generations through storytelling and sharing experiences,” she says.
