40 amazing years!

In 2026, the Lorain County Free Clinic celebrates 40 years of serving our community. Founded in the early 1980s as a temporary solution during an economic downturn, the clinic has become a lasting lifeline for those without access to health care.

With the support of dedicated volunteer medical professionals, LCFC continues to provide compassionate, dignified care, offering services such as hypertension and diabetes care, vision and podiatry clinics, immunizations, medications, and nutrition counseling.

February is American Heart Month ❤️

Heart disease and cardiac arrest remain leading causes of death in the U.S. Each year, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals—and nearly 90% are fatal, according to the American Heart Association.

Since 1964, American Heart Month has served as a reminder to prioritize heart health. Today, that mission is more important than ever.

Take charge of your heart health.

Oberlin Grad Continues Volunteering!

Anaya Roschyk graduated from Oberlin College in 2024 with a degree in neuroscience and is now a first year medical student at Michigan State College of Human Medicine in the Leadership in Medicine for the Underserved program. Anaya began volunteering at LCFC in 2023 and continues to volunteer remotely trying to share the incredible work that the clinic does for the community. She says "Being at LCFC highlighted the need for equitable access to healthcare and how medicine should not be treated as a privilage but a right. LCFC makes this possible."

Meet Dr. Mary Grady!

Dr. Mary Grady, DNP, RN, CNE, CHSE has 40 plus years of experience in the nursing profession. She began her journey in 1982 as a Licensed Practical Nurse and became a Registered Nurse in 1989 after obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She furthered her education by obtaining a Master of Science in Nursing, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice.

Dr. Grady has served as the Nursing Programs Administrator at Lorain County Community College (LCCC). She oversees the practical nursing and associate degree nursing programs that serve over 400 students.

Dr. Grady believes strongly that nursing education is the gateway to nursing practice.
When Dr. Grady is not busy doing nursing related activities, you can find her baking cookies. One year her family had to have an intervention with her since the amounts of cookies being baked in a week were more than they or the neighbors could consume.

It’s Hard to Believe...40 Years! A Long, Healthy History: Lorain County Free Clinic

In 2026, the Lorain County Free Clinic (LCFC) marks its 40th anniversary. Founded during the economic downturn of the early 1980s, the clinic was originally envisioned as a temporary solution until the local economy recovered. Four decades later, it remains a vital lifeline for residents who lack access to health care.

The LCFC’s all-volunteer medical staff has provided compassionate, dignified care, allowing doctors and nurses to practice medicine as it was meant to be practiced—rooted in trust and humanity. Services include hypertension, diabetes, vision, and podiatry clinics, along with immunizations, eyeglasses, medications, and nutrition counseling.
