SIMPLE, NUTRITIOUS MEAL KITS FOR PATIENTS

Meals are intended to be shelf stable meal kits with all ingredients included. There are several different varieties to accommodate dietary needs. We supply meals with beef, chicken, and vegetarian options. We have dairy and dairy free options. The only additional ingredient needed for all meals is water. Each meal comes with a vegetable to serve as a side, a bread dough mix, and electrolyte drink packets. These meals can feed 4-6 people.

The meals that have been created are chicken and rice, spaghetti with beef, beef and bean chili, chicken
alfredo, and minestrone soup. They are simple meals with simple ingredients. Each meal is less than $10
to create. To simplify the process of making these meals, we have included recipe cards that are in Spanish and English. The meals are created in groups of 12 per meal and are replenished on average every 3
months. Meal kits have been provided to patients, veterans, homeless, and people with low income in our
community.

This program compliments our established Blessing Box Food/Hygiene and Community Garden programs.

Celebrating Our Volunteers This National Volunteer Week!

During National Volunteer Week, we proudly recognize and thank the many volunteers of Lorain County Free Clinic who generously give their time, talents, and compassion to support our mission. From our dedicated medical team and board members to stakeholder service members, micro-volunteers, and everyone who lends a helping hand—each role makes a meaningful difference. Your impact is felt throughout our organization and across Lorain County, and we are truly grateful for all that you do!

We all know our #1 priority at the Free Clinic is our Patients. But it doesn't stop there.

Outside at the Free Clinic, an abundance of wildlife exists (skunk, deer, raccons, birds, squirrels) and a small group of feral cats that combs our woods.

Free clinic staff provide shelter and food through personal contributions to help these
animals survive, especially during these past brutal winter months. A Free Clinic for Animals of sorts.

Thank you to Brandy Randolf at (TNR) Trap, Neuter and Release in Lorain for providing medical care. "Meow, Meow" was covered in burrs and ice and TNR was able to provide spaying and care through her program. Tuxedo, a male was also fixed.

One of the most important qualities of our medical providers is truly listening to their patients. 🤍 In this lighthearted moment, Dr. Peter Esch gets a “listening check” from Volunteer Nurse Jaime Hootman, with Dr. Don Sheldon looking on. Both Dr. Esch and Dr. Sheldon have been longtime volunteer providers at the Free Clinic.

Part of something bigger 🤍 Our Charitable Healthcare Network is a strong association of 59 free and charitable clinics and pharmacies across Ohio.

Lorain County Free Clinic is proud to be one of them—and a charter member, helping launch the network alongside two other clinics in 2000.
