Gathering Hope House was able to give back for those in need for the Holiday Season by donating gifts to Neighborhood Alliance for their senior and family holiday gift donation drive.
Every donation, big or small, helps us remind someone that they are seen, cared for, and not alone.

Together, we are sharing hope, love, and joy this Christmas.

Cold Weather Advisory Issued for Lorain County

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - December 11, 2025

Lorain County Sheriff’s Office Partners with Gathering Hope House to Assist Residents Ahead of This Weekend’s Cold Weather Advisory

LORAIN COUNTY, OH - Major Torres and Corrections Sergeant Chelsea Irish visited Gathering Hope House this week as part of an ongoing effort to support vulnerable residents during extreme cold. Sgt. Irish delivered handmade blankets created by her grandmother, Sue Read, which will be distributed to individuals in need through the center.

The visit highlights the vital role Gathering Hope House plays in the community and comes as the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office issues another Cold Weather Advisory beginning Friday night and continuing through Tuesday afternoon. The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to raising awareness about organizations that provide essential services during dangerous weather conditions.

“Gathering Hope House thanks the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office for their generous donation of blankets for our members. GHH is a peer-run Clubhouse for adults in Lorain County managing mental illness. We offer a structured day where members take part in meaningful daily tasks that support recovery by working alongside staff, attending support groups, building skills, staying connected to resources, and can get help maintaining access to their housing, healthcare, and basic needs. During the winter months, many of the people we serve face unstable housing, limited heating, or long periods outdoors. We help people stay warm by offering free winter clothing, hot meals, onsite laundry and showers, and connections to shelter and other warming resources. These blankets will be used immediately and will make a real difference for our members this season. We really appreciate the Lorain County Sheriff's Office for their dedication to our community!”

Together our members and Ohio Business College nursing students came together for something truly special. With tables full of beads, bright colors, and plenty of creativity, we spent the morning making handmade jewelry for children at the hospital.

This year we are using any money raised from Giving Tuesday for boots and warm clothes for our members!
As winter approaches, many of our members are in need of sturdy and warm boots. The money we raise will help provide these essential shoes, making sure they can safely get around during the cold weather and continue with their daily activities. Every donation counts and truly helps us tackle the challenges of winter! Thank you for supporting this important cause!
