It’s also a good opportunity to check and replace the batteries in your smoke & carbon monoxide (CO) detectors to ensure they are fully functional and can alert you in case of a fire. Cultivate a good habit to inspect your detectors and change the batteries twice a year when you adjust your clocks.

- Generators should be placed at least 29 feet from your home, in a well-ventilated, dry area.
- Be sure to use only heavy-duty extension cords to connect your household appliances to the generator.
- Ensure you have carbon monoxide detectors installed throughout your home.
- Remember not to fuel your generator while it is running or still hot.

✨ These safety tips can help you stay safe while using your generator during a winter storm. If there's an emergency, remember to dial 911 immediately.

We want to alert everyone to an approaching winter storm system expected this weekend, which will bring heavy snow and hazardous travel conditions to our area.
📍 According to the latest forecasts:
A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from late Saturday night through Monday evening. At this time, the heaviest snowfall is forecast to be from the Twin Tiers southward; however, further adjustments to the storm track are likely in the coming days. Snowfall could be very heavy at times Sunday through Sunday night with hourly rates exceeding 1 inch per hour. -National Weather Service
🚗 Travel Conditions:
- Heavy snow could make travel extremely difficult Sunday through Monday; consider postponing non-essential trips.
- Emergency responders may experience delays due to conditions.
🦺 Safety Tips:
- Leave extra time if you must travel.
- Check on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance.
- In case of an emergency, call 911 — but only for true emergencies so we can respond efficiently.
