"Brown & Proud" is a phrase that was used in the 1960s by Chicanx youth to express their pride in their history and humanity. It was a way to counter racist ideas that skin color was a sign of inhumanity or inferiority.

Brown pride is a movement in the United States that encourages mestizo Latinos to embrace their brown skin tone as a source of pride. It's a response to the racist idea that white skin is more beautiful than brown skin.
