🚨Los Altos Hills Alert Check Day
The Town of Los Altos Hills is launching an Alerts & Warnings campaign in collaboration with the Emergency Preparedness and Response Committee to prepare residents for a test message that will be sent through the AlertSCC and Nixle systems on December 13, 2025.
Think of it as a fire drill for your phone—without leaving your chair. Emergencies don’t wait for perfect timing or fully charged batteries. Being signed up for both systems gives you the best chance to receive urgent information when it counts. Two alert systems are better than one—just like two cups of coffee on a Monday.
Take these simple steps now to get ready:
Step 1: Sign Up for AlertSCC
Before December 13:
- Register online for AlertSCC.
- Add your mobile number, email, and home address.
- Confirm your contact information is current.
- If you can’t remember the last time you updated it, then it’s definitely time
Step 2: Sign Up for Nixle here: https://www.losaltoshills.ca.gov/370/Register-to-Receive-Emergency-Alerts
- Text your Los Altos Hills ZIP code to 888777, or
- Create an account online.
- It takes less time than finding the TV remote.
December 13, 2025 – Test Day
The Town will send a test alert through both systems. This is your chance to make sure the alert reaches you and not just that old device you only charge during holidays.
Confirm You Received the Alert
When the test goes out:
- Check your phone and email.
- If you received the message, great.
- If not, update your AlertSCC and Nixle information.
We will conduct a follow-up test in January. Start to get ready today by making sure you are prepared, and encourage neighbors, friends, and family to sign up. The more the merrier!
On December 13th, your phone should make itself known—possibly louder than you’d like before your morning coffee.
Emergency Alerts - Register!
