the moment you speak, the power dynamic shifts...

you take power away from the abuser and you reclaim your power.

I tell a pretty watered down version of my story for social media...

mostly because it would be A LOT to share my whole story on here casually without proper context

your mental health “disorder” generally isn’t your fault!

it’s often an autonomic reaction within your nervous system to the amount of trauma or stress you’ve been through...

because trauma is any event that is too overwhelming for your nervous system to deal with in the moment,

when your nervous system can’t deal with the traumatic event, it slides into survival mode (fight, flight, or freeze) to protect you, which over time leads to “mental health disorders”

understanding this can remove a ton of self-blame from your healing journey.

and having the tools to regulate your nervous system is a huge step forward in your ability to reclaim your mental health

some of you have asked me for an SA survivor series...so here’s part 1 to that series (more coming soon)👇🏼

SA is captial T trauma y’all. capital T like surviving a horrific natural disaster. capital T like it can give you PTSD.

and repeated SA is capital T like being a veteran of war. captial T like it can give you C-PTSD.

someone forcing themself onto you and then literally into your body while you’re saying no or while you’re frozen with fear is horrific...

it’s just normalized.

and because SA is so common for women to experience, and so frequently minimized, dismissed, or blame-shifted, women have learned to hide it and not bring it up

survivors can talk to other survivors though.

and a lot of women are creating spaces where we can talk about it with each other more, which is a great first step in healing.

do all abusers follow the exact same textbook? 👇🏼

it’s weird. I’ve been around 2 very abusive people in my life and they both followed the exact same step-by-step protocol…

1. they had the same way of initiating the abuse

2. and the same way of denying it and avoiding accountability

these people are terrifying, but once you know their protocol, it makes it A LOT easier to recognize when abuse is happening

and then you can prevent abusers and predators from being in your life

since learning
1. how they initiate abuse
2. their DARVO communication style

I’ve never had an abusive person close to me since

also, it’s not your fault if you’ve been around abusive people!

they tend to target generous, kind, and capable people (which are all great traits if you’re around someone who isn’t abusive)

if you’ve been around an abuser or predator, it’s common to store trauma in your body from that situation but it doesn’t have to stay that way
