Many people come into therapy believing the “work” will be about trying harder, changing faster, or fixing a flaw.

In reality, a lot of therapy is about making your experiences make sense.
Do you agree? Disagree? Love/hate therapy?

These spins aren’t my finest work… but my clinical judgment is 🔥
Find you a therapist who knows how hard it is to start therapy and makes questionable decisions on moving airport walkways at midnight.

We all have free will. 😏🫠

My take on New Year’s resolutions is simple: they rarely work.
A more helpful question as a new year begins might be: What already makes me feel good—and how can I do more of that?

Consider this a quiet permission slip.

Rest doesn’t need to be earned.
Boundaries don’t need explanations.
You’re allowed to participate in ways that fit your capacity. 🩵

If desire feels off right now, pause before panicking.
This season drains bandwidth, not love. Send this to your partner as a reminder: we’re tired, not broken. ♥️

This topic is showing up across sessions:
the fear, the comparison, the assumptions, the confusion around “health” and what we’ve been taught to believe.
This video offers a more nuanced conversation.
Would love to hear your experience with this.

Holiday stress: expectations stack, responsibilities speed up, old dynamics reactivate, and your bandwidth drops fast. If you’re not feeling festive yet, it’s likely a proportionate response to the stress around you.

Most people feel overwhelmed before they feel connected.

Naming that is the first honest step into the season and can take some of the edge off those “where is my festive vibe” blues.

Let me know how you’re dealing with holiday stress/anxiety in the comments! 💙

If only this were the first time I used this method between sessions. At this point it’s a treatment modality... 😏

I used to feel so much guilt anytime I stepped away from home… travel, work, anything that wasn’t “hands-on” parenting. Most of that guilt came from the stories I absorbed about what a “good mom” is supposed to be.
Here’s what I’ve learned: stepping away doesn’t take me from my son. It brings me back to him.

Travel gives me perspective.

It reconnects me to the parts of myself that get buried under routine and responsibility.

It brings more ease into my relationship—more desire, more presence.

And it gives my son room to build trust, independence, and connection with the people who love him too.

I come home more regulated, more grounded, and more able to show up as the mother he actually needs… and as a better human in every other role I hold.

Have you ever felt guilty stepping away, even when it’s exactly what lets you return better?
