Lots of people have trouble sleeping. It's one of the biggest concerns my patients have. There are a million sleepaids on the market but the best thing for you and your brain is to sleep naturally, if possible.
Not only do sleep aids have side effects, they also don't produce the same quality of sleep that falling asleep naturally does. Plus, you know, this DO wants everyone on as few meds as possible. This is my favorite list of sleep hygiene techniques. It's short, simple, and right from the CDC.
It's okay if sleep hygiene doesn't work for you. Some people do need a sleepaid or sleep CBT. That's what we're here for. But trust me, give sleep hygiene a fair chance first. You might be surprised at how much better you feel.
