Grief after a long period of caregiving can be especially complex.

It is not only about loss. It can also bring a shift in identity, routine, and the role that once shaped so much of daily life.

That is part of why grief support groups can be so meaningful. They offer space to process your own experience while being in community with others who understand the many layers of caregiving and grief.

In this video, Sarah Hoff, Mental Health Therapist at Nolia Health, reflects on why group support can be such a powerful place to explore what comes after caregiving, and how healing can grow through shared experience and connection.

Caring for someone else can become so constant that stepping away starts to feel impossible.

But respite care exists for a reason.

It can give caregivers time to rest, tend to their own health, run errands, or simply breathe, while their loved one continues receiving support.

Taking a step back is not selfish. It is one way to make caregiving more sustainable over time.

For some families, respite support may be available through programs like GUIDE.

Caring for a loved one with dementia can bring up emotions that are hard to put into words.

Exhaustion. Guilt. Grief.

Even when your loved one is still physically here, things may feel different in ways that are difficult to explain.

What you are feeling is not wrong. It is human.

In this video, Sharon Umaña, care navigator at Nolia Health, shares a simple but powerful shift: instead of correcting, try entering your loved one’s reality. Small changes like this can reduce conflict and create moments of real connection.

Members of our clinical team, like Sharon, offer support in Spanish. Caregiving is already complex, and being able to communicate in the preferred language of the caregiver or the loved one they are caring for can make support feel more accessible, clear, and comforting.

We tend to tell ourselves a story.

“It’s just aging.”
“It’s nothing serious.”
“We’ll look into it later.”

But when it comes to dementia, waiting can come at a cost.

Join Dr. Lama Sibai of and Dr. Dona Murphey of for a conversation about what’s often misunderstood about diagnosis, why families delay, and how to tell the difference between normal aging and something more.

What actually supports brain health as we age?

In this video, Dr. Lama Sibai shares two of the most important habits for healthier brain aging, based on what science has supported for years.

The answer is not flashy. It’s not a miracle supplement. It’s consistency.

Cardiovascular exercise and social engagement both play an important role in helping the brain age as well as possible.

Small, repeatable habits matter more than most people think.

How do you explain dementia or memory loss to a child?

Many caregivers struggle with this question when someone in the family begins to change.

Kids are often the first to notice that something is different. Without context, they may try to explain those changes on their own.

Open conversations can help them understand that memory loss is not about someone forgetting because they don’t care. It’s a change in how the brain works.

These conversations don’t have to be perfect. In fact, it’s often better for them to happen in small moments over time rather than one long discussion.

What matters most is helping children feel safe asking questions, expressing worries, and knowing that the adults in their life are there to support them.

In this video, Sarah Hoff, LMHC, a therapist at Nolia Health who specializes in supporting caregivers, shares guidance on how to approach these conversations with kids.

Caregiving can pull your attention in every direction.

Appointments. Medications. Logistics. Emotional support. Trying to anticipate what might come next.

Over time, it’s easy to lose sight of your own priorities in the process.

One way to reconnect with what matters most is a simple reflection exercise called a Values Card Sort. By identifying the values that guide your life, you can make decisions that feel more aligned and intentional – even during difficult seasons of caregiving.

In this video, Dr. Chase Bailey, neuropsychologist at Nolia Health, walks through how the exercise works and how you can try it yourself.

Small moments of reflection can bring clarity during the caregiving journey.

What are your top 5 values right now?

Caregiver stress rarely announces itself loudly.

It builds quietly.
Through constant responsibility.
Through disrupted sleep.
Through the mental load of always thinking ahead.

Many caregivers assume this is just “part of the role.”

But persistent overwhelm, irritability, or changes in your body are not character flaws.
They are signals.

Paying attention early can protect your health and your capacity to keep caring.

If this feels familiar, options like caregiver support groups and one on one therapy exist with clinicians who truly understand this role.

You are allowed to take care of yourself too. Even small steps help.

“Connect, don’t correct.”

Alice Allen-Redfern, Chief Clinical Officer at Nolia Health, shares what that phrase really means for families caring for someone living with dementia.

When something said doesn’t align with your reality, the instinct is often to fix it. To explain. To correct.

But correction can quickly turn into frustration for both of you.

Sometimes it’s not about winning the argument.
It’s about protecting your peace and choosing connection.
