Our NSG team and new surgery center, CDCLA (Cervical Disc Center of Los Angeles) is proud to be part of the Synergy Disc US IDE 2-Level clinical trial.

The trial is a multi-center, prospective, non-randomised, historically controlled study to demonstrate the Synergy Disc is at least as safe and effective as conventional anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) to treat cervical degenerative disc disease (DDD) in subjects who are symptomatic at two levels from C3 to C7 are and are unresponsive to conservative management. A total of 200 patients will be enrolled to the investigational group at a number of sites across the country.

A touching first for Dr. Ament and - having a recent post-op patient be so satisfied with her surgical result that she dons a t-shirt to that effect. All smiles and notable improvement in her right arm and hand weakness from severe calcifications causing actually injury to the spinal cord. This was a complex surgery performed where an entire section of the vertebra is removed (corpectomy) in order to safely reach and dissect the calcification off the spinal cord. This is all conducted under the microscope at high magnification. This is an early but very real success for a beautiful person and family that I feel blessed to know and have been part of her neurosurgical care.

I am beyond happy for this patient - someone my partner and I have been speaking with for many months. I believe we were her 14th opinion (she may correct me) :). I strongly believe that what we, as the NSG team, accomplished in her is revolutionary and truly at the frontiers of motion preserving neurosurgery.
