What is it: A Doppler ultrasound exam of the foot is done to take a look at the blood circulation in the arteries to see if there is any blockage.

Who’s at risk: Patients with - High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, High Cholesterol, Heart Disease, family history of vascular disease.

Examination: recordings of the arterial flow in the lower extremities will take place by using a small probe over the foot to check circulation.

If you present with any of the risk factors above, it is best to see a podiatrist to check your circulation.

November is . Diabetic patients often experience chronic nerve damage referred to as neuropathy, resulting in loss of feeling in the feet. Preventive care is very important for diabetic patients. It is recommended to do the following:
1. Don’t walk barefoot (to prevent wounds/ulcers)
2. Inspect feet daily
3. Practice daily foot care (clean/wash feet daily)
4. Wear appropriate shoes and inserts
5. See your podiatrist every six months
