Therapylux Hello friends,
My name is Jacqueline Garcia and I am a bilingual licensed clinical therapist.

Throughout my 20s, I was a simple meal prep girlie. Yup—I would eat the same meal every day. I prepared easy, to-go meals that aligned with the lifestyle I had at that time. I enjoyed the kitchen, but I didn’t love it. I could say so much more about this topic, but that’s a story for later.

I was burnt out, and my body needed something different. I chose to change my mindset when I started my private practice. I realized I had the key to create the life I yearned for: slow, gentle, and consistent.

Here we are, 5 years later, finding healing in the kitchen and learning to make Risotto on a weekday afternoon. Cooking has been a gateway to my healing, and sharing meals with loved ones has been a fulfilling experience—literally. ❤️‍🩹

Here’s why DBT is “that girl”—a game-changer in the world of therapy. 🎀

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan and it was initially created to treat borderline personality disorder but has since been adapted for other mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Last Friday, I had the privilege of joining an inspiring group of social work students, mental health professionals, advocates, and clinicians at the 2026 Binational Conference. The event was held at the beautiful Centro Cultural de la Raza in San Diego, creating a great space for healing within our comunidad.

With my passion for public speaking— I was excited to lead a workshop focused on Bridging the Gaps for Latine Mental Health. It was a rewarding experience to share insights and strategies with such a powerful audience.

También, I was honored to meet keynote speakers y colegas, Adriana Alejandre, LMFT , and Rosa Casquino, LCSW .healing.guide.therapist. Their dedication to the field is truly inspiring.

A heartfelt thank you to the San Diego State University School of Social Work and everyone who contributed to making this event a magical experience! Your efforts in bringing us together for this important cause are deeply appreciated.

📸 shout out to my fiancé for not only unconditionally supporting me, but also being the photographer, manager, HR, you name it! 🤭

Language ego refers to the emotional and psychological experience of learning and using a new language, particularly how it affects an individual’s identity and self-esteem.

This isn’t talked about enough. Learning a new language isn’t just about memorizing words and rules; it changes who you are. 🥲

Call to Action

I remember starting this platform back in 2020 to give ur communities a voice during a time when the world felt like chaos. 6 years later, we’re still here. I firmly believe that when things fall apart, it’s a call for unity.

We as a collective have the power to do better, to embrace change, and to stand up for human dignity.

In a world that often feels divided, empathy is the bridge that can unite us. It challenges us to look beyond our differences and see the shared humanity in each other.

In the world of therapy, empathy is the key that unlocks trust and fosters meaningful dialogue.

As we witness the story of Liam Conejo, a 5-year-old detained by ICE, it’s a reminder that social empathy is crucial.

It not only opens conversations for assistance but also contributes to building a more compassionate and inclusive community.
