Happy 2nd Birthday Journey to Healing Therapy!!

If I can be honest, I totally forgot today was my private practice birthday (thank you Facebook memories for reminding me 😬).

Year 2 has been an interesting one for me. One filled with reflection, mindfulness, transition, and allowing changes to happen. It’s so funny to think about the plans and direction I wanted to go in for my second year, which many didn’t happen at all. Typically, I would view this as a failure or disappointment but in all honesty, it’s not.

I think one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from year 2 is that not everything that you want to do for your business needs to happen RIGHT NOW. Sometimes you have to wait, take a break, and rest in the fact that THE BEST IS STILL YET TO COME! It’s okay to slow down and go at our own speed.

I questioned myself so many times when it came to my business this past year. “Do I still want to do this?”, “ does owning my own business and being a therapist still bring me joy?”, “can I balance my growing family and work life?”, “ I’m feeling burned out and depleted, how can I continue the work that I’m doing and not have anything left to give to myself?, etc.

One thing I did realize is that despite some challenges moments, I truly do love being a therapist and business owner, but as I get closer to baby boy coming, my work life is going to have to look a little different, and that’s okay. This period won’t last forever and I know there is still many people and things I have left to do with Journey to Healing Therapy. Year 3 may look a little different but I know whatever comes my way is setting me up for tremendous things to come! 😊

Thank you to all the wonderful people who have supported me and Journey to Healing! THE BEST IS YET TO COME! 💜

Healing is often a goal that a lot of us aim to accomplish but do we really know and understand the meaning of being healed?

Does it mean you no longer cry when you think about the person you lost?

Does it mean you’ve learned to love and accept yourself for who you are?

Does it mean it’s easier for you to release your self doubts and negative self beliefs?

Does it mean you learn how to let people in after being repeatedly hurt and disappointed?

The word healing could embody all of this and more. Whatever your definition of healing is, make sure you have a clear understanding of what it means and looks like for you.

What is your definition of healing?

Healing is a journey that we’re all worthy of. Our struggles, our traumas, and our experiences shape us into who we are. With everything happening around us right now it’s important to take time to care for ourselves.

I’m super excited to introduce breathwork as a way to improve mental health, increase self-awareness, and release negativity through breathing. So you may be asking, “what is breathwork?” Transformative breathwork is a powerful self- healing modality where you focus on conscious deep breathing, inhaling and exhaling through your mouth without pausing for a designated time period, known as the active breath. As your facilitator, your breath is observed and hands-on techniques and affirmations can be used to navigate your emotions and energy.

Through using breathwork as a method of healing my own challenges, I can say that this experience provides a sense of empowerment and peace that I am eager to share with others.

Try thinking about what your life could look like as you start or continue to embark on your healing journey. You have every right to feel each emotion that you have. What’s important is that you remain patient and kind to yourself. What does healing mean to you?

Have you ever had trouble accepting compliments or gifts people give you? For example, someone says to you “You look great! I love your outfit!” And you respond with “Really? I mean this outfit is old and I just threw it on but thank you!” Or someone unexpectedly gives you a gift and you respond, “oh wow thank you! You didn’t have to get me anything and can totally take it back. Actually why don’t you give it to your other friend you said was having a hard time.” ⁣
⁣✨✨✨
Many people may think that they are being polite or modest when they do this but sometimes the difficulty in accepting gift/compliments/ or any type of Abundance is the underlining feeling that we are not worthy of those things. We don’t think we look good today so it’s harder to accept or believe that someone else thinks you do. We don’t feel worthy of that special gift we received and suggest it go to someone who really “needs” it. ⁣
⁣✨✨✨
So next time someone pays you a compliment or gives you something, and your first reaction is to not accept it or you feel uncomfortable, check in with yourself and try to understand what the underlining feeling is. Do you not feel worthy? ⁣
⁣✨✨✨
I want to give you the task to pick a day this week to just accept any abundance that comes to you. It can be a compliment, gift, money, good fortune, or any type of Abundance. Don’t feel like you have to explain anything or be “polite” just say “thank you” and leave it at that. Notice how you feel. Do you feel good? It is weird or uncomfortable? Start allowing yourself to feel worthy of the abundance you are receiving, because you are deserving. ✨ Have you ever had trouble accepting compliments or gifts people give you? Slowly starting to get back into the swing of things after taking a little mini vacay from both my full time gig and private practice. Since I’ve started my practice late last year, I’ve been hustling and grinding to grow my practice. I’ve put so much blood, sweat, and tears into my practice that I started to lose sight of my self care and thought that success = working ALL THE TIME! But that’s not the case. ⁣

Success isn’t about working yourself to the point of ridiculous exhaustion. It’s okay to rest! It’s okay to take a break! It’s okay to take some time for yourself to reset and relax! Doing this doesn’t mean you don’t want to be successful. It says that you love and value yourself enough to take that time to take care of yourself. Looking forward to implementing more of these mini breaks in the future. 😊
