Jared began playing the piano at the age of 6! But while music came so easily to him, performing in front of others did not.

Playing for an audience was a struggle that Jared faced, and he often would remain behind closed doors while he practiced.

Jared began working with Jay Nolan about 2 years ago and the difference in him is inspiring. It was when Jared really started to believe in himself that his confidence skyrocketed.

It was Jared who took those initial steps and vocalized what he needed to succeed. With the right kind of customized support, Jared did the work and now thrives in front of audiences everywhere!

Part of Jay Nolan's commitment to the people we support is figuring out where there is the most need, and stepping in to offer support wherever we can. That's why this year we hired a full-time, in-house Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), Cassandra Valle, to fill the gap of nutritional support that affects so many people in our community.

RDN Cassandra collaborates closely with individuals, families, and support staff to develop sustainable nutrition strategies that honor each person’s preferences, cultural values, and medical needs. She empowers them to make informed, confident choices about their nutrition and well-being. That way, our Nutrition Services is designed to support neurodiverse adults in achieving greater autonomy, health, and quality of life!

This holiday season, we invite you to help support initiatives at Jay Nolan such as Housing for All! 🏠

Val is a vibrant and adventurous woman who has worked hard at her job for over 20 years, but as she got older, however, her living situation posed a challenge due to her increasing mobility needs. Finding a more accessible apartment was not easy, and the lack of affordable housing made the search feel impossible.

That’s when Jay Nolan staff stepped in with proactive advocacy! They spotted a brand-new apartment building under construction and reached out before it was even finished! Today, Val lives in a space that truly supports her lifestyle and meets all her accessibility needs. She now has a home that reflects her strength, spirit, and right to accessible living! 🏡

Thank you to all the Jay Nolan staff who donated items, helped with the preparations, spread the word, and helped in any way shape, or form. A special shout out to Supervisor Veronica Dominguez for organizing the drive. We admire your advocacy and initiative. Thank you!
 
Last week, we came together at the office and put the holiday gift bags together for Jay Nolan families with the donated items. The team put together many holiday gift bags for our families and enjoyed a white elephant gift exchange and some treats. Since we ended up having an abundance of items, some were also donated to the fire department nearby and to CLASSIC.

Summer might seem a long way from now, but plans are already under way to make the 3rd year of Jay Nolan Summer Camp the best ever!

Recently accredited by the American Camp Association, Jay Nolan Camp brings neurodiverse and neurotypical campers together to experience accessible, recreational activities outdoors, including archery, swimming, exploring the outdoors, arts and crafts, theater, and connecting with new friends of different abilities in a fun and supportive setting!
