Eggs, milk, peanuts, and soy are among the eight most frequent food allergies. If you have food allergies, checking the food label and ingredients list when buying processed food is crucial. While these food allergens may be specified in the ingredients list, they may also be listed in other forms that you may not be familiar with.

Check out these examples of how food allergens may be listed.

Physical activity during the pandemic has significantly reduced. With social distancing protocol, the workforce has transitioned to a work-from-home setting. And sitting at a desk for hours during the day can put you at a higher risk for developing lifestyle diseases.

To increase your movement, take a break every 20 minutes and exercise for at least 5 minutes. Here's an exercise guide to incorporate into your schedule.

If you are looking to increase protein intake, don't miss out on plant-based protein. These are healthier compared to meat since it contains more unsaturated fatty acids.

Unsaturated fatty acids help lower LDL cholesterol - a risk factor in developing heart disease.

In general, beans, legumes, nuts, and seeds are rich in protein but don't skip dark leafy greens and vegetables such as broccoli, kale, mushrooms, and potatoes. These foods are not enough to meet daily protein requirements, but eating them can increase your intake.

We are already halfway through January, but you still have time to set your goals for 2022.

Here are a few suggestions for you (swipe left to see!)

1) Give yourself some love. If you love yourself, everything will fall in its rightful place. You'll:
2) exercise more, and
3) sleep better.

4) Start a gratitude journal. Studies show that when you are thankful for the blessings that you have, your mood will improve and you'll feel a lot better (this helps with stress).

5) Visit your doctor. When you have a regular check-up, your primary care doctor can help determine any potential health issues and provide preventive measures before it becomes severe.
