What are platysmas bands? How do they lift the face? The platysma is a thin, sheet-like muscle that covers the front of the neck and extends up toward the jawline. When the platysma contracts excessively:
• It pulls the jawline and neck skin downward, creating jowls.
• It counteracts the upward pull of other facial muscles, worsening lower-face laxity.
• Over time, it contributes to the “turkey neck” of “double chin” look. Injecting a neuromodulator (like Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin) directly into the platysma bands:
1. Relaxes the muscle’s downward pull on the jawline and neck.
2. Allows the upper-face elevators (masseter, depressor anguli oris, etc.) to pull upward more freely.
3. Creates a subtle lifting effect and smoother, tighter appearance of the neck and jawline.

This technique is often called a “Nefertiti Lift.”

Typical pattern:
• ~2–4 units per injection point
• 3–6 points per side
• Results visible in 1–2 weeks
• Duration: ~3–4 months
